Guess we needed to wait until he was washed and then sign him as a street free agent?

Uche has juice. He's still young. He could have a legitimate future here as the complementary speed rusher we really need. And yet we just won't send him out there.

And it's not as though he can't do it. This isn't a Neil Farrell thing where hell, the guy might just be bad at football.

Uche has BEEN that guy. He's been a damn effective pass rusher and he perfectly complements the sort of guys in Jones, Karlaftis and Omenihu who can pressure a QB but maybe not impact the play as greatly. Those guys all have surprisingly low EPA per pressure; their rushes aren't impacting the plays as much as one would expect.

Maybe put someone with some real speed out there who can mop up and/or push the QB forward by coming up the arc.

It's one of the stranger things I've seen this team do in a bit.

He had a solid career in KC. He was a dickhead so nobody liked him or gave him credit for being decent.

But he's always punched above his weight class. He has flaws, to be sure, but he was a typically sticky CB who knew where to be. He just had some physical limitations.

He's a poverty McDuffie in that regard.

If Nelson were the guy he was 3-4 years ago, he'd be a fantastic get. Or really at any point in his career, even last year, he'd be an asset.

It's just an open question if there's any gas in the tank at this point.

Looks like he's been exclusively a boundary corner since leaving KC.

From his last year in KC through now, he's had about 5800 snaps on the outside to about 150 from the slot.

I'd be super stoked if he could just give us 20-25 snaps/gm in Nickel packages that let McDuffie move back into the slot. Nelson had 5 interceptions and 8 PBUs last season, so at least in 2023, he could still play a little bit.

I gotta believe he could be no worse than Johnson was.

Well he's had most of the season to rest. He should be energetic and without any nagging small injuries. Hopefully he's kept himself in good physical shape on his own and he'll only have to adjust his mind to game speed decisions.

They have to get Conner out of the slot now. He’s just not a fit there. They also need to play Hicks over Cook

When you've got 3rd downs and Jones decides to play DE and kick him inside, it's not gonna work.

You really think they're making that change this late in the year?

Well there's that...

I'm really impressed with how the Chiefs have gone out and at least tried to address their injuries and weaknesses as the season has gone along. I live in DFW and I see that the Cowboys have done exactly jack shit. I love the commitment to winning.

They've already started to.

Cook had his lowest snap count of the year Sunday night, Hicks had his highest.

Reid said last week Hicks was going to see the field more going forward. They must really like him. Cook sure as hell isn’t doing jack shit, so I’m fine giving Hicks a shot.

Cook is lost in coverage.

<----- {stares longingly at Bernhard Raimann}

I have just never for one second understood that Cook pick. Dude was never a 2nd round talent.
