Had the Saints +5. Brutal.

**** you Sean Payton.

Hell of a game. I didn't see the whole thing so I have a question about the highlight they just played of a GB guy diving into the endzone and the ball came out after when he hit the ground. Was that a run or a catch?

Well shit, it's not like the game went down to the last play or anything. :spock:

I'm going to reserve judgment on how the Chiefs will stack up against the Packers until I hear from Athan.

That play call was just dumb. You have 1 option.

You go play action you have multiple possibilities.

Just dumb.

unbel.- comes down to one play! pretty telling though, sending out your run team.

something tells me we'll see these teams again

Great game...

rocknrolla 09-08-2011 10:03 PM

I hate to say it. But, there is NO WAY Cassel could come close to competing in that shootout. Man both Rodgers and Brees looked sharp.

I couldn't believe they did that.

Hammock Parties 09-08-2011 10:05 PM

The Saints did that because they have the best run blocking guard in the game. I don't really have a huge problem with the call.

Packers are my pick to repeat.

I don't think they'll be running out of gas anytime soon.

Why didn't they kick the FG when they were down 8 late in the 3rd? Stupid.

Hmm a team with a defense likely beats them tonight. The Saints were ran like a Vermiel like team tonight and still almost won.

The thing is, there aren't many teams that are as prolific on offense as the Saints are.

This game had shootout written all over it when the schedule came out.

No there isn't but with that said I think a team like Pittsburgh still could match up very well with Green Bay.

You'd get a game that is in the 20s, maybe one team gets 30.

Hard to tell if either defense is really that bad or the offenses are really that good.

I think GB has a better chance of playing better defense with a good offense.

I think NO defense is in trouble,

Titty Meat 09-08-2011 10:20 PM

Does Nawlins win if Will Smith plays?

Nawlins wins if Payton doesn't make two bad play calls on critical plays.

Ace Gunner 09-08-2011 10:24 PM

The problem was pass rush = zero

This. They just looked very polished offensively. I'm getting on the horn right now to Vegas and put all my money on Rodgers for league MVP.

I actually felt a little better watching Brees put 400 up on GB. He kicked the Raider 1st string pass D all over the field in preseason - I thought maybe it was a lack of Nnamdi combined with a general pass defense suckage. It was 17-10 Saints when the starters came out. But the Superbowl Champs didn't do any better against Brees than Oakland did.... therefore, the Raider pass D is as good as the Green Bay pass D. Its simple mathematics.... if you're really drunk...

I knew Darren Sproles. Friend of mine. Went to school with him from kindergarten through senior year. Very nice person. Totally deserves any success as a player in the NFL. Needless to say I was excited for him tonight.

RealSNR 09-09-2011 12:12 AM

Chiefnj2 09-09-2011 05:31 AM

So much for defenses being ahead of offenses early in the season.

the Talking Can 09-09-2011 06:18 AM

what a way to start the season....jesus

Sproles looks like a great pickup, as does the rookie Cobb (a luxury pick for a team that can afford luxuries)

Rodgers is off the charts good...pressure doesn't seem to phase him

The number of weapons on offense for GB is ridic
Not sure why Thomas only got 5 carries for Saints (ok, i snoozed during 3rd quarter, maybe he was injured?)

Franklin looked like ass, +1 for pioli
Turk McBride starts for the Saints...proof even good teams have holes

the NFL may have achieved it's goal of making defense impossible

the Talking Can 09-09-2011 08:26 AM

game had a 17.5 tv rating (per espn radio)....higher than game 7 NBA finals, twice any world series rating...

regular season opener

Yep. Dare I say it, the Packers will own this decade.

Hammock Parties 09-09-2011 12:00 PM

Wow. PFF got their grades up for the first game quickly.

Best players from last night:

RT Bryan Bulaga - run blocked like a beast

RG Josh Sitton - ditto

C Scott Wells -ditto

All three of those guys graded out well in pass pro, too. But their run blocking was primo.

TE Jimmy Graham - good game receiving and run blocking.

DE Turk McBride - good game against the run, only one QB pressure though.

Players who sucked:

DE Cameron Jordan had a bad game in his first pro outing.

Aubrayo Franklin, Sedrick Ellis and Shaun Rogers were ****ing awful. Highly negative grades in run defense.

Jonathan Vilma sucked a big fat one. 3 missed tackles.

AJ Hawk got completely toasted in pass D, allowing 5 catches.

Roman Harper also got toasted, allowing 6 catches and 2 TD.

Hootie 09-09-2011 12:02 PM

Turk sauce!!!

Chiefnj2 09-09-2011 12:07 PM

Green Bay had 2 touchbacks all of last year and had 4 in the first half of the game last night. The new rule is going to suck for all teams except those 5-6 teams with elite QBs. Goodbye field position game.
