They're going to have to start their comeback early this year. I'm not going to blame a rookie manager.
|
What the **** is with this team and the 7th ****ing inning?
|
Back in it.
|
Too bad Matt Holiday is not clutch
|
Woohoo!

Don't **** this up, Motte.
Better yet, lets get another run just in case. |

Motte throws a little to hard to be safe in a field like this.
At 98 mph, if the hitter just flicks the bat head out there he can drive it over the fence. 1-run lead in a small ballpark is an absolute house of horrors for Motte. I'm not real comfortable right now, that's for sure. I'd almost rather see Boggs or maybe even Rosenthal in these spots. Motte's stuff just doesn't play well in this situation. |

Wow!

Damn Motte owned those guys. That was very pleasant to see.

Neither one of them was in the AB once Motte got that first 'offspeed' pitch thrown for a strike. Like I've said - if he never throws that cutter for a single strike, it's still worth throwing 20% of the time. Weeks and Hart are the kind of guys that can really hurt Motte and he just absolutely mowed through them in large part due to what amounts to a below average cutter. |
Nice comeback, thanks to Axford for not being able to find the strike zone.
Hopefully this sparks something with this group. They need a 7 game run or something. |
Holliday player of the game.

I saw Rosenthal pitch at the last Springfield Cards game I went to a few weeks ago.

Brew Crew blow

1st and 3rd no one out. 2nd and 3rd with one out down by one run and we can't get a run across the plate? Wonder why? Maybe because we had carpenter, shumaker, delcasso as our murderers row. And we start Tyler green?

At least I got a chance to see Rosenthal. Definitely jittery, but man what a cannon. That fastball he threw on his first strikeout had some hair on it. |

I know this is radical, but send Descalso down, trade Greene for whatever you can get...call up Wong and Taveras. We need some new energy, those guys are studs. Berkman needed a tune up in the minors he looks like he did two years ago when he tried to push through. Let him play spotty until he gets his groove back and give the young ones a little taste.
|
Just heard on the Chicago local news that the Cardinals are a late entry into the Dempster hunt (obviously no link).
|
How bout that 12 run inning? And to top it off they score 0 runs vs. Westbrook in 7 innings. LOL!!! God I hate the Cubs worse than anything in the world and love it when our redbirds rail them in the ass.

Why can't we play the Cubs more often?

Wonder if Wainwright's talk had anything to do with this weekend. I heard that after the Cardinals got swept Waino stood up in the locker room and said we are better than this, we are underachieving, we have to do better. Then called out the underachieving publically in front of reporters and it of course makes it into the media. |
Same record as last year at this point. Does anyone see a path forward that we achieve the same result as last year?

Seriously, Tyler Greene has to go.

Don't understand at this point, what Greene brings to the table?

Problem is, speed means nothing if you get picked off before you can use it. |

I would like to make some type of move for some bullpen help, or even starting pitching help.

I read Jay is on the trading block.

Another game blacked out even though I'm 270 miles from STL.
|
Nice to finally at least not lose a series to LA. Hopefully they'll melt in the heat again tomorrow.

Hmmmmm
http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseb...9bb30f31a.html "Holliday’s presence has been felt mostly in the last month when he’s had a bat in his hands. His 50th career homer at new Busch Stadium was part of a two-hit day that raised his average to .319. Over his last 33 games, he is 52 for 124 (.419)." |
He's been red hot. Freese is getting there as well.
|
Balls are flying out of wrigley today.
|
Good God, I guess. Man, what the hell has happened to Lynn? :spock:
|
Holliday's dinger was one of the longest I've ever seen at Wrigley.
