A Jupiter, Florida, man was arrested for throwing a live alligator into a Wendy's restaurant drive-through east of Loxahatchee, according to WPTV.
Joshua James, 23, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, illegally killing, possessing or capturing an alligator, and second-degree larceny petit theft, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.
He has not been released on bail as of Monday afternoon. WPTV reports that the incident occurred in October, but James had only been arrested recently by U.S. marshals.

Officials with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told WPTV that James pulled up for his order, and after a server handed a drink and turned around, James tossed the 3 1/2-foot gator into the drive-through window.

Wildlife workers are trying to catch a shark in Brevard County, however it's not in the ocean but in a park pond. "It's not often you hear about a shark at a park. I mean, it sounds like a sci-fi movie," said Billy McDonald.

According to trapper James Dean, he believes someone dumped the 4-foot bull shark into the pond at Gleason Park in Indian Harbour Beach.

The shark is believed to have been in the pond for a month.

"The shark doesn't belong in this type of water, and we truly believe that somebody did release it in here," said Dean.

He said it's not fair to the shark because it can't get out unless someone catches it, and that is what he plans to do.

On Monday, Dean attempted to catch the shark using chum and mullet but reeled in nine turtles.

"I've never dealt with something like this," Dean said. "It will be difficult and time consuming. We want to get it out of here."

Indian Harbour Beach City Manager Mark Ryan said the overflow pipes connecting the pond to the river are grated to keep gators out, so it's unlikely a shark got there on its own.

Dean said sharks can adapt from salt water to fresh water but it is unique for it to do that.

"It is not a public safety issue as long as the media is putting it out there and people keep their children, their dogs away from the water," Dean said. "This shark is not going to jump out of the water like an alligator does."

Dean said he is not sure how long it will take to catch the animal, but once he does, he will drive it to the Indian River and release it.

He was unable to catch the shark Tuesday but said he planned to be back on Wednesday morning.

Residents have nicknamed the elusive shark "Sushi."

PORT SAINT LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A car left on train tracks was struck and catapulted into a nearby home in Port St. Lucie.

According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Bradford Weitzel left a Martin County bar early Saturday morning to find that his car was missing.

Weitzel told investigators that he stole another vehicle in an attempt to find his own, and that it suddenly stopped dead while on train tracks along Indian River Drive.

Detectives say Weitzel bailed from the car and ran as an oncoming train struck the vehicle and sent it flying into a nearby home.

The homeowners were asleep inside, but thankfully no one was hurt during the incident.

Deputies say Weitzel continued to flee to a nearby fruit stand, where he vandalized the stand and attempted to steal a forklift.

Eventually, Weitzel flagged down the responding deputies to ask for help finding his missing car. Deputies arrested him after he explained the events of the evening.

You know this house. Heck, with stories being written about it everywhere from Creative Loafing to TMZ to the New York Daily News, everyone on the planet probably knows this house.

Why all the attention for a 3BR/2B 1,432-sqft bungalow on 1774 Tinsmith Circle in Lutz? Sure, the price hike — from $230,000 to $699,900 in less than a year and a half — is a tad eyebrow-raising, but who hasn’t heard similar stories about our head-shakingly hot real estate market?

No, it’s the stories this house has to tell, and is still telling, that have caught the world’s imagination. It’s a landmark in the work of director Tim Burton. He chose it as a location for one of his most acclaimed films, 1990’s sweetly bizarre romance Edward Scissorhands, in which an inventor almost succeeds in manufacturing a human but doesn’t get to the hands part, leaving his creation (Johnny Depp) with digits that are useful tools for barbecuing, landscaping and hair-cutting but kind of dangerous when it comes to expressing affection.

Burton had the homes on Tinsmith and environs painted in 1960s pastels, a world that that went from suburban bland to Scissortastic as Edward transformed the shrubbery and the neighbors’ lives while living with the Boggs family (including Dianne Wiest as the Avon lady who takes him in and a blonde Winona Ryder as her daughter and Edward’s eventual love interest).

The owners of the “Boggs house,” Joey and Sharon Licalzi, turned it into a museum of the movie after buying it in 2020. The purchase was a nostalgic moment for Joey — he was working as a dishwasher for a local Denny’s at the time of the filming, and a producer enlisted him to wash dishes for the movie’s craft services department. After moving in, he began collecting Scissorhands memorabilia from fans around the world, and crucially, as the Tampa Bay Times reported, from the movie’s prop master. Eventually the Licalzis had amassed enough of a collection to open their home as the free-admission Scissorland.

Now, in need of more space, they’re ceding the house/museum to the next occupant — who will be someone who a) can afford the $699,900 asking price and b) is a BIG Edward Scissorhands/Johnny Depp/Tim Burton fan. There’s no guarantee that a new owner will maintain the collection and the overall vibe, which includes replicas of the mushroom-pattered wallpaper in the Boggs’s kitchen and Edwardian topiaries created by Joey himself. But so far, says Realtor Megan Hartnell of Century 21 Affiliated, “No one has expressed an interest in separating the house from the memorabilia yet.”

The possibility remains that someone might put in that type of an offer. But, as Hartnell adds, “The price of the house rose in value tremendously because of the memorabilia included in the sale.” That, and the cost of living and comps in the area.

Hartnell says she’s received lots of interest since putting the home on the market late Thursday night, including a showing today (Monday). As the photos by Dylan Todd make clear, the house and its collection are a lot. But think of the parties — especially the barbecues!

A Florida bride and her wedding caterer have been arrested and accused of lacing wedding food, including lasagna, with marijuana and causing several guests to become sick, according to their arrest warrant affidavits.

Bride Danya Shea Svoboda, 42, and caterer Joycelyn Montrinice Bryant, 31, have been charged with culpable negligence, delivery of marijuana and violating Florida's Anti-Tampering Act, the affidavits say.

CNN has not been able to reach Svoboda and Bryant or determine whether they have attorneys.

One affidavit alleges Svoboda "agreed to and allowed Joycelyn Montrinice Bryant to lace the food she served ... with cannabis unbeknownst to the attendees, many of whom became very ill and required medical attention."

When Seminole County deputies arrived at a community clubhouse in Longwood on February 19, several wedding guests were being treated by county fire rescue personnel for "symptoms consistent with that of someone who has used illegal drugs," according to both affidavits.

When a deputy asked Danya and her husband, Andrew Svoboda, whether they had requested or consented to the food containing cannabis, Andrew "stared at (the deputy) with a blank expression for a few moments before stuttering through a 'no,'" the affidavits state.

Deputies collected food and glassware from the wedding venue that had been used by guests, including a beer glass, lasagna and desserts, the affidavits say. The lasagna later tested positive for THC, according to the documents.
Tests showed at least 3 guests with positive results.

Some guests reported feeling "stoned" and "ill and high," the affidavits say, while another said he felt "weird, tingly, fidgety, and had an extremely dry mouth" after eating food at the wedding.

According to the affidavits, one woman who attended the wedding told an investigator that while she was at the hospital, she felt paranoid and "believed her husband ... wasn't telling her the truth about other family members," and that her son-in-law had died and no one was telling her. She said she became loud and unruly in the emergency room and had to be given medication to calm down.

Lab tests showed three wedding guests had urine tests that were positive for cannabis, according to the affidavits.

One guest told investigators that after she realized she was high, she asked Svoboda if "she had put marijuana in the olive oil," the affidavits say. The guest told a deputy Svoboda answered "yes" and "acted excited," according to the documents.

However, another guest said when she texted Svoboda from the hospital asking her what was happening and what she was given, the bride responded, "Uggg, we have no idea," the affidavits say.

According to court records, both Svoboda and Bryant have bonded out of Seminole County Jail and will be arraigned in June.

74-year-old Florida Man shoots man in ankle, beats him with golf club for walking dog on Delray Beach golf course


Here’s how it went down according to Merritt (as reported by WPBF News):

“Merritt told deputies he was walking his dog on the grass next to the golf course when Levine rode up in his golf cart and … began causing a verbal altercation with him due to having his dog on the golf course … He then began shooting at him while Merritt was running away.

....Levine chased Merritt around a tree while continuing to shoot—Merritt said he shot about five rounds at him, according to the report and witnesses … he felt that Levine was trying to kill him.”....
....“Witnesses told deputies they saw Levine kick Merritt in the head, go back to his cart and get a club and begin beating Merrit with the club while holding the gun in his left hand. Deputies said they found shell casings on the ground and two golf clubs with what appeared to be blood on them.”...

Florida man with guns, drugs, baby alligator in truck arrested by deputies

NAPLES, Fla. - Deputies in Southwest Florida got more than they bargained for during a traffic stop early Friday morning when they found guns, drugs and a baby alligator inside a pickup truck.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over the black GMC Sierra truck around 12:30 a.m. because they recognized the driver from previous law enforcement encounters as having a suspended license.

When deputies went up to the truck they discovered a live baby alligator in an open plastic tub in the bed of the truck and two concealed firearms inside the vehicle. One gun was located in the glove box and the other was hidden under the front passenger seat.

Deputies arrested the front-seat passenger, Michael Marolla, 31, for having the concealed firearms. They also charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic equipment because deputies found several loaded syringes in Marolla’s jacket that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Deputies notified the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission about the alligator and they are investigating.

DUI suspect attacks Florida cop for waking him at crash, then starts rapping, cops say

A man released from prison two months ago is now the suspect in a bizarre DUI incident that included him attacking a Florida deputy, then rapping “you think I’m scared of prison,” according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened on Christmas when a crash was reported at the intersection of Sisco Road and Olivia Lane in Pomona Park, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Pomona Park is about 75 miles south of Jacksonville.

“Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with (a man) sitting in the driver’s seat of a Hyundai Sonata that appeared to have hit the Olivia Lane road sign. The vehicle was still running and (he) appeared unconscious with a bottle of alcohol in his lap,” the sheriff’s office reported.

“The deputy turned the vehicle off and instructed (the suspect) to exit the vehicle. (He) attempted to exit the vehicle, then sat back down and tried to start the vehicle. The deputy then pulled (him) out of the vehicle.”

That’s when the 39-year-old driver “pushed the deputy,” knocked his radio to the ground and tried pulling the deputy’s gun out of its holster, officials said.

“The deputy was able to take (him) to the ground and secure him with the assistance of fire-rescue personnel,” the sheriff’s office said. “After securing (the man), the suspect began rapping to the deputy, ‘You think I’m scared of prison’.”

The driver, who lives about six miles from the crash site, was taken to a hospital for a medical exam, then put in the Putnam County Jail under a $185,000 bond, officials said.

Charges include: “Battery on a law enforcement officer, trafficking amounts of oxycodone, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, resisting an officer with violence, obstructing police by depriving means of communication” and possession of marijuana, officials said.

Investigators say the suspect was released from a Florida prison in October after a 12-year sentence for trafficking drugs, including heroin.”

I moved for a 50% raise from the KC market. Since doubled again. Bought a house before the boom made prices ridiculous. Now, I'm a year or two from retirement. Been another decade if I'd stayed in KC. Miss going to every game but Florida man notwithstanding, its a great place to live.
