Kobe was usually on the bench icing his knees in the 4th quarter because his team had already kicked ass most of the time.

People get bumped or hit hard, and there is no foul, but a guy just watching a layup, playing zero defense, makes a crappy swipe at the ball, doesn't make contact, but it looked like he did, so they call a foul. The lack of consistency, and the questionable timing on when fouls are called, will make me believe the outcome, or at least the spread, is being manipulated, and it won't change until the officials change.

The entire Laker team pouted and cried, and threw their hands up whenever they thought they were fouled. That's LeBron's leadership, the biggest whiner in the NBA.

And dribbling, without traveling or carrying the ball, is like the most fundamental part of the game, but players and officials ignore that rule. Well, except when a ref needs to influence the game, and then they call it.

Imagine if NFL officials suddenly started called passes that bounce once a good catch. And they call a one bounce pass a good catch until the game is on the line, and suddenly they call a one bounce pass incomplete, because the rules say the call can't touch the ground.

It makes no damn sense. I cannot understand how traveling and carrying the ball, which happens on almost every single possession, became acceptable even though the rules say it's a violation.

Nobody cares.

There was a case study done a while back that by make percentage Kobe was one of the worst players of all time on game winning or game tying baskets. He just got to shoot a ton of them.

Basketball is hard to ref.

College BB which is generally reffed better still has problems. But say when I watch March Madness and I'm watching two teams I don't care about, it's easy to see the problems.

But for the NBA, I started enjoying it again when I only watched a few games during the playoffs and no longer took it seriously and no longer rooted too hard for any specific team.

Players looking for contact on almost every drive make it hard, but much of the reffing is a joke.

People whine about NFL refs, but they really aren't that bad by comparison...

Holding happens on every play. PI happens on every play.

Anyone that expects to be taken seriously when they go with "BUT THEY TRAVELED!!!!" is pissing into the wind.

It's someone that went into the game not wanting to like it so they chose not to.

If you watched the games last night saying "BuT tHeY tRaVeLeD!!!" then you're right - the game ain't for you. Go watch Indiana brick open 12 footers and play high school caliber 'hustle to the spot but close out late because you were lost and you're slow' defense. You'll be much happier.

Yeah, the game is losing viewers because the lack of traveling calls. Because this is completely new.

It's a braindead complaint from someone that already decided he didn't like NBA basketball.

Because that's what we're doing now, right?

5 rings. I am sure Robery Horry had a better % too. Does that make him better? Kobe was feared and was routinely doubled at end of games and would take ANY shot to get it done. I bet nobody left him uncontested when he did. You mofos bustin a nut over a first round game against a shorthanded and immature Memphis team. Ooooooh, he hit a shot over big bad Dillon Brooks......Who won't be remembered down the line. DeAngelo Russell saved the day with those 3 straight 3 pointers when down 7. Without those, we lose, PERIODT!!!

ARROW2 04-25-2023 11:34 AM

Same ole same ole from Bronsexuals. Bogus stats. **** Dillon Brooks, so what you hit a shot over Dillon ****ing Brooks. Title or bust in Lakerland, that it what it was for West, Magic, Kareem, Kobe, Shaq, etc. and same applies for LeStat.

This is so true

But the college game is reffed better!!!!

Fox is absolutely right regarding the shot-making. And it's what I've tried to say for a decade or more to these guys.

College scoring isn't lower because of good defense - the defense is largely awful. It's lower because these guys don't ****ing hit shots. And that's with the benefit of a baby 3 point line.

The pure shot-making is just absolutely atrocious. The number of missed wide-open 10-12 footers just drives me insane.

KC_Connection 04-25-2023 11:44 AM

The college game is definitely not reffed better. College basketball refereeing might be the worst refereeing of any sport I consistently watch. KU had a few games literally stolen from them by the refs last year on the road (as well as a few games they'd never have won at home without the refs) and this is the norm. The difference in home/road in the NCAA is worth nearly 10 points and it's mostly because the refs are really bad at their jobs.
