Byron Jones
Laken Tomlinson
Phillip Dorsett
Damarious Randall
Stephone Anthony
Malcom Brown

2016:
Paxton Lynch
Kenny Clark

we already had this conversation. So your saying whoever we get at pick #28 will benefit the Chiefs for the next 5 years more than Earl Thomas will benefit the Chiefs?

We have no idea if that 1st rounder will even stick. Be JAG. We know that Thomas has 3 high caliber years left, at least. He can make the most impact this year, right now.

FYI he’s the same age as Eric Berry.

CaliforniaChief 09-25-2018 08:40 PM

Adding Earl Thomas to Eric Berry, Fuller, Houston, Jones, and Hitchens would be so badass.

I would actually look FORWARD to watching the defense play, not dreading it and hoping it ends like a colonoscopy.

Not very, when you're watching Patrick Mahomes destroy faces all over the league.

If we think Earl Thomas is still an elite safety and will be for another 2-3 years, you absolutely give up that pick and bring him in.

Take advantage of the time when you are basically paying Mahomes next to nothing by investing in other positions.

Exactly! By the time that 1st round pick is ready to have significant impact it maybe time to pay the farm for Mahomes.

Like others have said, we don’t need a top defense or for that matter a average defense, we just need to stop a couple of more drives per game than we are currently doing. Give us a little more wiggle room. Thomas could stop a drive himself a couple of times a game.

Those guys mostly are all on different teams by now. A lot of JAGs. Even the pretty good ones from other years I’m probably taking Thomas over.

The draft is pretty much at that point anyways. Can get better or worse players in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds, etc...

But if you do hit on your pick, you have that 5th year with a 1st round pick. I'd rather give up both 2nds than the 1st.

I don't think it's actually that crazy. Assuming the Chiefs go to the playoffs and pick late, I am not sure we can draft anyone who would give us as much in 9 years as ET would give us in 5.

I would be 100% for trading our 2019 #1 for ET. It's the single biggest area of need on our defense. We would go from literally the worst starting player on our team to the best safety in the damn league. Sign me up, man.

gold_and_red 09-25-2018 09:02 PM

Has Thomas ever missed sufficient time due to injury? I am starting to think that Mahomes has overcome Because Chiefs, but still have that nagging feeling.

FUTHAMUCKA! DETS LOO DIS!

I’d give up a late 1 in a heartbeat. We have our franchise quarterback, running back, receivers, tight end already on the roster. We need a safety bad, and there isn’t a chance we get a safety in 19 draft at pick 26-32 that can contribute like earl thomas for the next 5 years.

Other need for this team is an impactful edge rusher. Not sure if we can find a good one without that 2019 1st round pick, which could be used to move up along with 2 2nd rounders.
