Fox is absolutely right regarding the shot-making. And it's what I've tried to say for a decade or more to these guys.

College scoring isn't lower because of good defense - the defense is largely awful. It's lower because these guys don't ****ing hit shots. And that's with the benefit of a baby 3 point line.

The pure shot-making is just absolutely atrocious. The number of missed wide-open 10-12 footers just drives me insane.

100% Being a die hard NBA fan that I am I can't stand to watch the college game. I have no interest watching a brick fest every night because that is all it is.

I found it interesting he talked about how bad the coaching is. Probably why hardly any college coaches go to the NBA because they just aren't good enough.

The fundamentals in the NBA are actually exceptional. The passing is off the charts good, but the length of defenders is so incredible that they still tip some of them away. There's simply not a lot of room on an NBA court anymore. These guys are freakin' huge and they're fast. To be able to get a pass into the interior all is pretty impressive and it generally comes off some pretty nifty screens or exterior passing before the entry pass is even possible. These guys are able to control their dribble while they're getting mugged coming through the lane, they can switch hands in the air to finish and their court vision is remarkable.

An earlier post was right - you need to see a game in person to realize just how hard that game is. From up high it looks like there's plenty of space and it looks pretty easy. Get down courtside and listen to it. It's violent (like punching a side of beef), its crowded and its chaotic. The fact that these guys can even see across the court given the fact that they're throwing over guys with 8-9 ft wingspans is pretty incredible. What they're able to do in the passing game alone is amazing when seen at the level these guys actually play at.

Then to watch them receive a pass in a triple threat position, execute a great jab step and go straight up for a 15 footer (only to still be contested on a play that would've had a college defender falling on his ass) and sink it is just a thing of beauty. 80% of the plays in the NBA are built around the fundamentals; passing, screens, positioning and shooting technique. Sometimes the D blows your play up and an iso is necessary, but it's almost always a losing proposition anymore because these guys are just too athletic on defense.

The 'streetball' talk is just wrong. Oh there's probably an element of latent racism to it, but mostly it's just wildly uninformed. The fundamentals in the NBA are stronger than they've ever been. The quality of play is higher than its ever been. It took me a very long time to come back around on the league after the Riley-era Knicks/Heat drove it into the abyss. I damn near left again after the 2005 Finals where the officials gave Dwayne Wade a championship. But there's just no question that the league right now is absolutely incredible.

If you don't want to watch - don't. But I get really tired of people that clearly don't understand the intricacies of the game trying to speak to how awful it is.

It's just the same tired, stupid arguments every year by people who invariably premise the inane dipshittery to follow with "I don't watch NBA basketball..."

Is Miami making noise in the East? Jimmy was a man on a mission last night. I tuned in for the 4th quarter and Miami started to hit a stride. Maybe, the Bucks are just sleepwalking?

Giannis has been hurt and Butler just played one of the greatest NBA playoff games of all time (which will obviously be difficult to replicate). Milwaukee is still in with a decent shot if Giannis gets back to close to 100%.

I don't mind the argument that it is more entertaining. I don't (remotely) agree, but the pageantry and styles can be appealing in their own right.

It's the "well it's a more pure game" people that drive me absolutely insane.

Because there's no reasonable argument to make that CBB is more 'pure' than the NBA.

Woah - he only had one turnover?

Yeah - that's impressive as hell because he was in the middle of everything while Davis and Schroeder were out there throwing the ball around every chance they got.

It was a solid effort for 3 quarters but the 4th quarter and OT were the kind of thing that impacts a legacy if they happen in the finals. That was a remarkable performance.

I can understand the sentiment. I rarely watch college football, and when I do it seems a rather poor imitation of football compared to the NFL.

So I'm not saying college BB is a better overall game, but I think the refs have less outright favoritism for star players versus say bench players than the NBA has.

Although the NBA is perhaps not as bad as it was.

Game 6 of the Kings/Lakers 2002 conference championship was so blatantly ridiculous, I stopped being a NBA fan.

It was way, way worse than anything Tom "Golden Boy" Brady got.

Being double teamed and then just shooting anyway makes you a selfish and inefficient player. Its one reason why Kobe had such a low percentage on game winning attempts. Too much hero ball. You play to win the game. Kobe is obv an alltime great, but this was a weakness of his.
