Looks like that's it for practice today, some clips will come out later today as the media gets back to KC and uploads their shit from their non-phone cameras.

Now onto the presser.

I think my favorite development from training camp so far is that the OL and DL are just trading blows.

One dude will get smoked by another, and then the reverse happens. No one is absurdly terrible, and everyone seems to have great reps here and there.

I'd say Blythe is maybe getting abused the most, and Jones is destroying everyone. Smith is doing incredible. Wharton looks like he took it up to another level. Creed is looking great for a rookie.

Reid says Devon Key's traits - emphasizes "Smarts" and "Instincts" - not usually attributes given to UDFA rookie safeties.

What is your overall impression of Brown so far?

Seriously, though, how in the living hell did this guy fall so far in the draft? I know there were health issues and all, but good lord the guy looks like a man amongst boys out there. Doesn't even seem like he's even trying that hard either.

Someone on here pointed out that medication for blood clots = blood thinners, which means having a medical plan for how to manage those going in and out of game day.

He’s getting work with the 1s and has also flashed when he does.

It’s hilarious that you won’t give him any props.

I'm comfortable at this point, cautiously optimistic. What I'm really pleased about is that I think it was a *perfect* strategic move by Veach:

- We didn't pay an injured, "meh" LT in Fisher.
- We got a Pro-Bowl LT to slide in for the cost of (essentially) a second round pick, when the cupboard was otherwise bare.
- We didn't take a flyer on an unproven 1st round LT, and most were gone anyways when we would have picked.
- We haven't extended Brown yet, meaning we aren't tied to him if he doesn't excel
- We are paying him rookie contract wages at (arguably) the most important non-QB position on our roster, freeing up our cap to use elsewhere
- If he does excel, we can structure his extension in a way that lines up well with the growing cap in future years.

The big question is scheme fit - can he adapt to our pass-heavy offense? Even if not amazing, if he does "just okay" on certain plays, we can scheme around that a bit. Put a Blake Bell to help chip the edge; roll right; run more often; screen more often.

I think we're going to be okay no matter what because Veach is calling the shots and Reid is calling the plays.

If Brown is all-pro, great. If he's functional, fine. I don't think he'll fail terribly.

That's a protection call issue, most likely, meaning it's on Mahomes or Humphrey. It's not like he got "beat."

They'll work that out in the classroom.

Yikes Niang.

I think Remmers is going to be our RT this year.

Hog's Gone Fishin 08-05-2021 11:02 AM

Keep in mind the defense knows its running plays or its passing plays so advantage goes to defense .
