Bahktiari is an interesting one I hadn't thought of. They have a 10 mil roster bonus due here pretty soon, how would the financials work there if we traded for him

Cap hits of $6 million in 2023 and $20 million in 2024. Dude is a ****ing injury risk and definitely not a long term solution.

He's only 32. He had the ACL thing, but if that checked out....

O.city 03-10-2023 12:19 PM

That's a ****ing steal cap wise.

Actually his cap hit would be about:

2023: $16.8M
2024: $20.8M

The Franchise 03-10-2023 12:22 PM

Yeah, I realize that I missed his non-prorated bonus.

O.city 03-10-2023 12:27 PM

He looked pretty healthy last year and that's a fine amount to pay. Hell you could extend him a bit and be fine.

Why would the Bengals sign him? They haven’t even gotten to the Burrow/Chase deals yet and tying up a bunch of cap space in OBJ is going to make that even harder. Plus there’s no way they can outbid Chicago.

They claim they want to keep Higgins as well. I don't see how you pay Higgins, Burrow, & Chase...and still have the money to pay top dollar for a left tackle. Unless they intend to let their defense fall apart, the same defense that has been a critical aspect of their success the last 2 years. Their offense was scoring around 23 points per game in the Playoffs. Defense put them over the top in their 5 Playoff wins.

He played in 11 games last year, missed 6. He played in 1 the year before, obviously. But then he only played 12 games in 2020.

Definitely not a long-term solution at all, nor is he probably worth the money at this point.

This makes me wonder why they wouldn’t just keep Nijman? He’s still cheap next year as a viable starter and he could take over the following year when Bakhtiari is cut.

They're gonna cut or trade Bakh this offseason.

The 2020 year he tore his acl in January of 21, so you kinda figured he'd miss most of 21.

He had some issues with it but came back and played really well. It's a risky move for sure, but at this point it's probably the highest upside for the cheapest cost.

Maybe send them a 3 for him?

They could but they would have to match whatever we offer him and be stuck with that contract.

If they're willing to take the dead cap hit, yeah. But it's still $21M this year.

He's not going to be cheap, dude.

They've got a 9.5 million dollar bonus or something hitting here in the next week so they need to restructure or cut.

If we traded for him, we'd be on the hook for 16 and 20 million dollar hits the next two years. That's pretty damn good for him if he's healthy and himself. He's arguably the best LT in football.
