It's possible his age and position have just caught up with him at this point. That's not worth $20M AAV and that's about where he will land IMO.

O.city 03-10-2023 01:07 PM

He's only 32. The knee injury is the thing, but he seemed to be past that last year.

32 is old for a guy with his recent injury history. The age is one thing, the injury is another. But combined together, they're pretty much a show-stopper for the Chiefs. Just not a good or realistic option.

Wow they’re about to shell out $40 million in dead cap for Rodgers. Bakhtiari is $11 million in dead cap if he’s traded.

You figure they’d gladly take the 2nd rd pick and move on

They tried to sign Trent Williams to a LTD when he was 32.

The injury thing would be my biggest worry.

In 893 pass blocks snaps, Orlando gave up 4 sacks and 58 pressures…and Orlando did so as a left tackle with Nijman at mostly RT.

He had some issues with it but came back and played really well. It's a risky move for sure, but at this point it's probably the highest upside for the cheapest cost.

Maybe send them a 3 for him?

Played really well? Packers fans were bitching about him still not being right.

Everything I'm reading would indicate Hardman, Thornhill and OBJ are going to land potentially top of the market contracts for this free agent class. That would mean the Chiefs could potentially be looking at three compensatory 3rd round picks next year if they play their cards right. That would mean focusing on players who were released instead of free agents, which is where the value just might be anyway.

Think about it like this, what would you rather have: OBJ @$23-24 million a year with $80 guaranteed, or Donovan Smith @$15-16 million a year with $40 guaranteed AND a 3rd round pick? That's really the comparison we should be making when letting OBJ go. It should absolutely play into our decision.

I think Cook and Reid are locked in as starting safeties next year, so you find a veteran looking for a ring who someone let go of. You keep Deon Bush and you of course use a mid-round pick on one. Then you also get that 3rd for Thornhill.

Basically 3 extra picks for guys who are, in the Chiefs world, pretty expendable. We really have a shot to keep playing our 4D chess game if they make the right moves.

This is the direction they will go assuming they see someone in this draft that can "fit the bill" at LT IMHO.;)

Which one? He mentions a couple of different options.

wasn't this the exact same thing we said two years ago after Fish was release with the injury? Up until a week before the draft we were all talking about drafting a tackle at 30 or whatever...

I find this hard to believe 100 percent. I think they'd cover their asses with a vet also.

If the draft doesn't fall to their liking we'll end up signing Lewan or Smith to a 1 or 2 year deal.
