It sounds like there are several options for KC at LT, enough that I'd rather we just tell OBJ thanks but no thanks. He's not worth $20M/yr. He's probably not worth $18M/yr.

Just trade/or whatever for that Nijman guy, and maybe draft a project like maybe Wright, and move on. Just by letting OBJ go to another team opens the door slightly for another receiving weapon, so why not.

In 893 pass blocks snaps, Orlando gave up 4 sacks and 58 pressures…and Orlando did so as a left tackle with Nijman at mostly RT.

Ijs

So 11 (rounded) sacks from a guy who mostly played RT if he played the 893 pass blocking snaps Orlando did at LT. I don't know. Doesn't make me feel fuzzy puting him exclusively on the blind side. Money saved or not.

He hadn't played RT since his senior year of college.

He might be fine. But trading a 2nd seems a bit steep on the surface.

I think you can somewhat discount the sack comparison because Mahomes is so hard to sack.

Pressure rate is probably more telling. RT VS LT is a thing but pass rushers will line up anywhere any more.

Not that I know anything about Nijman or want him one way or the other but he does seem like a potential candidate given where things are at.

Pressure rate is tough as well as Mahomes holds the ball and will drift or drop back if necessary.

So, I have no idea how much weight there is to this rumor, but I just read on my feed from 'nflnotify' that CHI is all in on acquiring OBJ. They are prepared to "overpay for his services."

Probably it's BS, but I'm bored and it was there.

I imagine Veach shopped him and wasn't able to get anything higher than a 3 with the contract OBJ wants, so it made since not to tag him and get a 3rd round comp pick and not get stuck with another 1 yr deal at $20 mil.

Yes, because the field was utter shit and he still was getting chips.

Graziano brought up the chiefs and Tunsil in his piece with Jeremy Fowler on ESPN

What would it cost to get Tunsil?

Still not sure how to feel about it, Clark is pretty hands off as an owner, but he was pretty clear last year that Veach was not to trade his first round pick since the draft was in KC.

I don’t see how to get a guy like him any other way.

Veach knows protecting Pats blind side is extremely important. Tunsil would be one of the best moves he could make IMO. Dude is solid as hell. Would also allow us to not have to chip as much and get those backs out in space quicker.

The idea that the Chiefs would pass up on getting a difference maker for their offense in order to make sure they had the 31st pick in a fairly weak draft is kind of crazy.

I mean, sure, I'm sure the Chiefs WANT to make a pick in the first the year they're hosting. But both Clark Hunt and Brett Veach are smart enough to operate with that as a secondary factor to the best move for the team.
