I agree. I guess I'm just not as concerned because our run defense was completely fine while Houston was out, and Ford already made a play when he had to in coverage, which he shouldn't be doing that often anyways.

If he's playing HOustons spot, he's going to be in coverage more than we'd probably like. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery from Houston though.

Gosh, I just said I was done, but your fine post MAKES me respond. What play did he make when in coverage? Are you talking about the one where he didn't touch the guy or the ball but dove in efforts to touch the ball? Or maybe I missed said play entirely.

Sidebar: I remember the Peanuts cartoon where Charlie Brown really admired the baseball player Joe Schlabotnick. He wrote him a letter that included:

"I saw you the day you got your hit."

Kinda reminds me of this situation where perhaps I missed Ford's tremendous coverage play.

I think when Tamba is out there they will mix it up. Could be wrong though.

At the end of the second Chargers game, he had really tight coverage on Woodhead, a very difficult matchup, and forced the incompletion to end and win the game.

That was an excellent play.

He led the NFL in QB pressures that month too.

Berry doesn't have a "contract situation".

He's acting like a selfish prick, even though he'll earn more money than any safety in the NFL in 2016.

Quite the "leader".

Pump the brakes at this point, Dane.

No harm, no foul.

Agreed, if he comes walking in at some point in the next couple of weeks, so be it. He'll step right in and be ready to roll. Haven't we seen this a million times before? Vet has a contract dispute and uses it to miss the wear and tear of training camp.

I agree but let's not refer to this as a "contract situation".

Very few players in the history of the NFL would be unhappy with playing 16 games for nearly $11 million dollars.

Especially a safety.

To be fair, this isn't a dispute.

Either he signs and is automatically guaranteed $10.8 million or he sits out and costs himself money.

Outside of maybe long snapper, safety is the least important position on the field.

I'll never understand the love for Berry.

Berry is a great story, and had a very good year last year. However, I agree and never wanted to pay a safety that much. The Chiefs are right not to agree long term unless it's a value contract. I'm glad they are using their heads in this instance.

I just don't care to be mad when a franchise player sits out out of training camp. That's smart on their end. Even if Berry doesn't sign for what he's asking for, why risk injury in what for him isn't that important of a camp? He already knows the defense frontwards and backwards and this year he doesn't have to deal with cancer. I don't mind him sitting out at all.

I've talked about this.

LDT was a really raw project when he was drafted and spent his rookie season working at LG.
In the first two preseason games playing LG last year, he showed huge strides in his development, then was switched mid-game to RG.

Even seasoned vets sometimes struggle with the transition from one side to the other.

If LDT makes the same jump in development on the right side now as he did from his rookie season to his second season on the left side, he could be a dominant player.
