They're not giving up a 1st, so it's pretty pointless to be debating a hypothetical situation that won't happen.

Yeah, of course I'd take Earl over those guys. I'd take him over a lot of guys in the league right now, he's probably one of the best 10 guys in the league.
I get it. Its not as cut and dry though as that. Theres a lot of factors. What you have to give up is just one. As we've seen in Seattle, when you go continually chasing and giving up picks, you can get wonky pretty quick. I also understand "no Sb in 50 years, who cares about the future" stuff as well so I won't get to wrapped up in that. Then theres his age, his recent injury history and the new contract. It's definitely a risk. Big reward if he's stays healthy and plays well but it's a risk. |

His issue is staying healthy. |
I get crushing the Chiefs defensive drafts and such, they've not been very good.
But looking at the last couple first rounds, once you do get to the end of it, it gets pretty meh dicey. |

He's never healthy. Therefore he's not good. |

I'm guessing contract demand is the hang up. They are probably debating spending $22MM+ a year on the safety position. If they think Berry is going to be healthy (they obviously have more insight than we do) it makes it a bit tougher to lose the pick and the $$. |

This isn't happening. No chance in hell and it shouldn't happen. They want to much and he only wants Dallas.
