I can't believe someone is defending the idea of Cassel having a 70 million dollar 36 guaranteed contract.

I didn't know we traded for Brady or Manning.

fairly certain Pioli traded for Cassel because he envisioned him as a franchise QB...

Pretty sure Cassel wasn't going to sign anything that didn't pay him franchise caliber money...seeing on how he's getting $15M on his tender this year...meaning he's going to get paid like a top QB...meaning $36M in guarantees is a perfectly logical contract for a franchise QB...something Pioli EXPECTS Cassel to be...get it?

and no i'm not drunk yet. i had a nice post-masturbation high going but it's gone now.

Anyone still think Thigpen will "compete" for the starting job?

Right now all we know is 6 year, $36M. Even if it's a $70M dollar contract, I GUARAN ****IN TEE Cassel will not be the 2nd highest paid QB next year.

What's our bet?

He'll be 2nd or 3rd highest in guarantees....

I love how my point just whooshed.

I'm sure there are injury clauses.

WHAT THE **** DID YOU EXPECT GUY?

HE IS A FRANCHISED QB...HE IS IN FOR A BOAT LOAD OF MONEY IF HE DOESN'T SIGN...

THIS IS MARKET VALUE FOR A TOP QB...PIOLI DIDN'T TRADE FOR THE GUY TO BE AVERAGE...

ARE YOU OFF YOUR MEDS TODAY?

and if Peyton was in line for another contract this year, he'd probably get $50M in guarantees.

Wow. Ancient.
Who the hell wants a successful qb in his prime when you can have a kid who nobody knows what he is.

Not from my POV: 22 vs 27. That should indicate a big difference of contract size.

That said, rookie contracts need capping.

I don't know about that. It's not like Cassel is 31. He's 27, and he's entering his prime years of 27-31ish. It's not like he's ancient. That contract will take him through 33, and that's if he sees the entire thing, which may or may not even happen.

The other guys are rookies who've never played a down. I think the age thing is REALLY overplayed. It's not like we just traded for 30 some year old Trent Green.

Dude you said 2nd highest PAID QB in the league, not 2nd or 3rd most in guarantees.

It's not like that extra money outside of guarantees just doesn't count.
