Yes, I do understand a runner can score from 2nd. That is not the point so quit.

Your argument is full of holes cause you are assuming the 2 guys who popped out would have taken the same approach had the runner situation been different.

And if you know all about situational hitting, nevermind I played baseball for 10 year, you know I am speaking the truth.

Are you ****ing kidding me?

The reason the logic was flawed was the same reason it wasn't the right call to have Crisp bunt last night with runners on first and second. It flies in the face of the numbers.

Teahen says fuck you Mecca

And I said typically I would agree with you except it was Bloomquist at the plate. You are just as well having him put a bunt down as letting him swing away. In fact you have a better chance of moving the runner with him bunting.

While your numbers in general are right, you are not taking into account who is at the plate.

Last night's call, while not the best call, would have been fine had the bunt went down the 1st base line and not to the 3rd base side.

I knew we needed that rainout. Hopefully there will be one tomorrow I guess...

I could go for that. Davies facing the Jays isn't my idea of a good match up right now.

Kraus 04-29-2009 08:06 PM

5 K's for Zack.

petegz28 04-29-2009 08:07 PM

I would really like to have that Scuturo on our team.

Brianfo 04-29-2009 08:09 PM

**** you meccha

Do you want to chew on that, or would you like some lubrication.

Kraus 04-29-2009 08:10 PM

ZacKKKKKK

petegz28 04-29-2009 08:10 PM

SIT THE **** DOWN!

alnorth 04-29-2009 08:10 PM

Detroit damn near came back, clawing up from a 7-run deficit, but falling just short to Mariano Rivera 8-6. Win these and we are 3-way-tied for first. Again

petegz28 04-29-2009 08:11 PM

Ok, the little blondie in the Sonic commerical has that "I would **** your dick off" look about her that just gives me wood.

What can I say?

http://books.google.com/books?id=1s7...esult&resnum=1

Runner on 1st and 0 out = 43 percent chance of scoring
Runner on 2nd and 0 out = 60 percent chance of scoring
Runner on 3rd and 1 out = 54 percent chance of scoring

"This decrease in scoring percentages makes sacrifice bunting the runner to third base extremely questionable if the batter is a decent hitter."

Bloomquist is hitting 2nd. By virtue of putting him in this spot, Hillman is implicitly saying WB handles the bat well and is a "decent" hitter.

But please, continue to tell me that I'm wrong. It's simple math. And Hillman doesn't know what the **** he is doing.
