Here's the thing, though - the Cardinals have only hit 40 and came into this game with only 37 on the season. The Cardinals aren't full of power hitters; they're full of patient line-drive hitters.
The Royals are 29th in baseball in HRs, the Cardinals are 27th. Hell, the Cardinals are in the bottom 1/3 in SLG%, even though they hit a ton of doubles.
This perfectly illustrates how completely ****ed up Ned Yost's approach to this season has been - it's NEVER about the HRs.
The Cardinals are among the league leaders in runs scored (3rd in the NL) because they get on base. The Cardinals are 4th in baseball in OBP and that's without the benefit of the DH. The Royals have simply never given a **** about OBP and it's reflected in everything they do.
Yost absolutely botched this and even though I like the guy as a manager, he needs to be fired for what he's done to this lineup. And really, Moore probably should be as well because of the clear lip-service he's paid the patience of his organization.
