Rumor has it that Reid left for a meeting or something. Dorsey cut Maclin while he was gone. He cut Charles too even though Reid really wanted to keep him.

All this contract stuff led to a dispute about who had the power. It could all be crap, it could all be true. Looking from the outside, it certainly fits what happened though.

We definitely heard leaks about Dorsey wanting Berry to pay for an insurance policy with his new contract. Berry got pissed, Dorsey basically refused to sign a contract without protection for the team. Clark Hunt flew up just to talk to Berry and work on the contract. A few days later Berry signed this big contract without any insurance or protection for the team. I don't think that Dorsey was even in the room.

Houston and Berry's contracts both took a long time to complete because I don't think that Dorsey thought they were a good idea. What it appears like from outside of the organization.

Dorsey comes from Green Bay, where they build from the draft and are careful who the pay big money. It makes sense that after Berry's cancer and Houston's persistent knee issues that Dorsey would be hesitant.

Time ultimately dispels fiction... and Dorsey was right on with both Berry and Maclin. KC let their best GM in franchise history go for petty, non-football, pissing match bullshit.

Just remember on Monday...that Hill, Kelce and Hunt cost KC two 3rds and a 5th round pick. Mahomes was drafted and the trade engineered by him too...the best looking QB prospect in maybe 10 years or ever. Veach was the whistle blower but JD had the vision to know exactly where to move...kind of like Chris Jones too.

The dude cracked a code that has eluded this franchise for almost 50 years...mad props.

didnt read the entire thread. My mom had the same issue and had the surgery. They actually have to detach the tendon, file down the bone spur and reattach it back. She was non weight bearing for 2 months...not looking promising for EB

Anyone recommended a Shoedini yet?

Don't act like someone was right or wrong because of a random medical condition.

If Berry had gone out there week 1 and blown the same achilles that would have been one thing, but he didn't.

This would be like some GM saying they were right not to draft Berry because he got cancer. Come on...

No.

No ****ing way.

The club cHunt gambled on Berry/Houston to be core and soul of this defense, and the club cHunt lost.

Absolutely. Do NOT repeat the mistake. The Chiefs are currently riding the crest of a long-overdue wave where the mistakes of the past are being cut like cancer from the collective host.
No need to put the vehicle in reverse.

Ya' think??? And what the **** is he doing back-ending the person he hired for that job and responsibility? That's not a good precedent, and this was HARDLY a "Save Our Chiefs"-scenario. You know, a scenario that would actually REQUIRE the hand of ownership to intervene???
( If we believe the stories, Hunt didn't want to touch such a "distasteful" event, much less fire the prick who caused it )

Let him wear his "dope crown"; he's earned the mother****er.

The issue currently on the table is not Dorsey's ability or inability to draft; it's about a GM looking out for his team financially both in the present AND future, and being blamed for cap woes and contracts that in hindsight were not of his creation.

Highly unlikely that Clark Hunt would allow the astronomical dead cap hit by cutting Berry after this year. Man, according to Sport Trac, the dead cap hit after this season is $28.9mm. Damn.

It's so ****ed that weed is banned. If you want to ease the pain without getting suspended you have to risk getting hooked on opiates.

^^^^Nailed it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Dorsey was the first GM in my long tenure as a fan that I had real confidence in. It was refreshing to see a guy so completely devoted to turning over every rock out there in the quest for hidden treasure. That guy loved to WORK. And I know he was as hell bent on building a great team as he was to prove himself at the next level.
Was he perfect? No. Was he better than the last 15 to 20 years of garbage that preceded him? Ab-so-****in' lutely. And in the end, it's a loss.
All we can do is be thankful for the QB and hope that the guy behind him is just as driven and managed to pick up some of his old boss's best traits.

Yep. Dorsey got some contracts wrong, but he was right more often than not, and it was a bad day for the franchise when Hunt allowed Reid to push him out.

Exactly. Veach hasn't yet shown he knows what he's doing in the draft.

Andy drafted excellent offensive players without Dorsey. He found Kareem Hunt, knew Travis Kelce years before he was a draft prospect and it’s a known fact that Dorsey didn’t play a big role in selecting Mahomes.

His defensive picks have been below average.

Seeing Maclin's name reminds me... do people realize we're still paying him a shitload of dead money? Almost 5 million of our cap.

Unfortnuately, it was the right move at the time though, because Maclin's play has been declining rapidly. He's currently a free agent, and no team has bothered to look into him.

The voicemail thing though was not acceptable. That's on Dorsey.

That being said, almost all of the big dead cap money will be off of the books after the end of this season.

2018 - $18,478,464 is dead money. That's 8th in the NFL (per Spotrac).

2019 - Under the assumption that no major surprises, for example Eric Berry not being cut, $464,855 is dead money. And the Chiefs will have an estimated $50 million available on cap space.

Veach is responsible for Mahomes. Period. Veach found LeSean MaCoy and DeSean Jackson when in Philly.

Dude gets 1 single draft here and statements like this...............
