I'm surprised but not shocked. The chiefs were in a tough spot. The team is on a legitimate super bowl run. Without him it is going to be tougher but having him on the team moving forward was going to be a major distraction and a source of unending negative attention.
I am very down about it because I liked Hunt and it was very disappointing, but even more so because this season is never going to be the same. The last thing I wanted was for this to be the focus of any discussion involving the chiefs for the rest of the season. Frankly, the chiefs were damned if they do and damned if the don't. At least this way they won't have to deal with the distraction and the negativity while trying to win a championship. Still, it really sucks, though. Hunt was a special talent and I think a fundamentally decent person who behaved very badly. |

The Chiefs put out multi paragraph press releases when they cut the five thousandth pick of the draft from saint marys school of the blind but three sentences on Kareem. Pure CYA. Rain Man and Blowfish win this entire thread. |

Reality is the league told Clark that Hunt was suspended for the season and Clark decided to give Kareem the axe
The fact that Kareem won’t start in the playoffs isn’t Clark’s fault, it’s the NFL. Clark weighed cost/benefits of keeping Kareem on roster to return in 2019 and Clark just said “f*** it” and cut him |
