I think the Chiefs are close on all accounts.

WR room is strong and getting stronger with Hardman and Toney.
RB room is strong and getting stronger with CEH.
TE room is incredible.
QB is the GOAT.
OL is getting there and Veach will keep working on it.

His spirit is broken.

He's a weapon for sure but I'm worried about the rust when he comes back. You'd like him to get reps before jumping into playoff games.

Contract year for Hardman. Absolutely no reason to play unless you are 100%.

Making him more comfortable in the pocket and throw it to the guys open.

The guys open that we miss are usually checkdowns. You know what’s way better?

Having a guy who can quickly beat man coverage. Having a guy who can go up and get a ball anywhere within a zip code of him. A great bailout to get rid of the ball quickly. Not having warm bodies out there like Mvs who are useless the majority of the time but you need him because none of your guys have speed. Can you say we have a sideline option who can consistently and reliably do this? Loosen up the damn defense again so we can punish defenses for pressing the hell out of us.

Despite what the numbers say we still have roadblocks beating defenses who play physical against us.

Absolutely it's scheme vs talent. But that's kinda the point. Tyreek Hill's marginal return in this offense was diminishing as other teams had caught up to what we were trying to do (and of course, his cost was going up at the same time). In 2018, no one had any clue how to stop us. By 2021 the blueprint was out there and it was starting to pay more dividends.

So you make adjustments. Maybe devote fewer resources to the WR position because you're going to be running a different style of offense while building a young defense. It's constant evolution.

It's entirely fair to compare our offense this year versus last because we're having similar levels of success with a different formula. And as I said before, that's just a reminder that there's a lot of ways to skin a cat and I think we have the right people in charge (Reid + Veach) to be able to figure that out more times than not.

The tension with regard to tackle vs pass rusher vs WR is the exact thing that's going to define Veach's life this offseason. I may favor some avenues over others but I think I'll end up trusting whichever road they head down.

But are we really better? Have we really seen the same level of dominance the second half of the season? The rams and the titans were a huge struggle masked by horrendous qb play on the other side. Seattle wasn’t great. Denver second half was Cincinnati playoff level bad. Chargers were a struggle. Bills were a struggle.

Again I love where we’ve progressed. But we aren’t there yet. We are an efficient offense with WRs who make too many drive killing mistakes. We are seeing huge spikes in man coverage and DBs blasting our WRs. And largely, the strategy has worked. We’re doing just enough on offense but we’ve never worked harder for 24 points.

I’ve always been a huge veach supporter so I’m with you that we should trust in him. I just don’t think putting good numbers this year is a sign that we should be content and so we can now build outside of our pass offense.

Yes because missing games looks better than being 100%.

It does if it decreased his ability at being effective. You would rather a team extrapolate out your stats instead of being 80% and not as good as you can be.

Mecole had a "setback" in practice this week and missed the last 2 days.

I really hope his hernia didn't tear open again, that would suck to have to start from scratch again.

Going to have agree to disagree on this one. When you're job hunting it's time to sharpen up your look. It's really easy and cheap to find a bench warmer.

Which is it?

It’s both.

Give mahomes weapons that can allow him to be more aggressive and not be forced to make miracle plays in the pocket in critical moments. For every missed check down there are a gajillion more critical late plays where mahomes is asked to make a miracle out of nothing. Throwing an aggressive sideline throw or jump ball is a way better use of mahomes than holding your breath on a critical third and long because mahomes dumped a screen to McKinnon hoping he’ll pick up 10. In the first scenario you allow mahomes to be mahomes but you actually have a wr who can help him out. The second scenario takes mahomes mostly out of the equation. And we are more and more leaning into the latter.

Make him do less to create miracle pockets and windows. Let him do more to use his arm talent.

I still hold to the theory that Reid doesn’t like playing guys this late in the season if they don’t need to. Did it with Damien Williams. Did it with McKinnon last year. He knows how to use these guys and isn’t going to risk it in a game that, while important, is expendable

That sucks. Hopefully he’s 100% for the playoffs.

chiefs aren't risking toney and hardman in the same game is my feeling
