No, he's not 100%. But he's still Patrick ****ing Mahomes. You see some of those throws he was still able to execute?

The issue for me is that the game may come down to 2-3 plays made/not made.

And if he's not able to practice in full and he's not able to drive off that leg, it just increases the odds of those plays falling into the 'not made' category.

I can think of at least 2 easy throws for PM that he just sailed a bit because he couldn't step into them. And if even one of those ends up picked instead of keeping a drive alive, that could be enough to send us home.

It isn't about him turning into Joey Harrington out there or anything. It's about him being merely mortal. And if that's what he becomes, we're going to be in a world of trouble.

Would you rather have...

A)Gimpy Mahomes + Healthy OL

B)Full strength Mahomes + Lucas Niang at LT, Nick Allegretti at RG, and Prince Tega Wanogho at RT

Because B is what the Bengals are dealing with right now.

And on the other end, the Bills pass rush has disappeared.

It is what it is. Everyone is dealing with big injury problems right now. This is ours.

How many drives does he keep alive with his mobility? A run here and there, dancing around in the pocket and finding a guy...An immobile Mahomes is going to really put pressure on our questionable OTs.

I don’t think anyone disputes any of the above. If he’s not 100%, it’s going to probably show in a handful of plays that a healthy Mahomes would make out of structure that would prolong a drive.

But this is about the existence of a plausible path to victory. And I still think it’s there even if we don’t have those plays that probably are worth 10-14 points.

The margin of error is just going to be razor thin and we’re really going to need the defense to make some plays.

I guess before I’d say we’d win the AFCCG against those teams 6.5/10 times. Now maybe we’re 2/10 or 3/10 depending on the severity of the injury. And those odds give us a fighting chance.

Based on how positive everything is trending even less than 24 hours after the injury, you have to think it is entirely possible that Mahomes could be back to like 80% of his usual self next Sunday night. Especially after a full week of treatments on the ankle.

Also Andy will have an entire week to create a gameplan that accommodates whatever limitations Mahomes will have with the injury.

We good.

We'll beat Buffalo if they get through.

Probably beat Cincinnati too but that's a tougher ask because their DL is better.

Whatever happens, happens.

At least we're not dealing with this:

KC will have to focus more on the run. We have the horses to win without Mahomes being 100%. He will have to spend more time in the pocket and maneuver there even though it sucks some. His game will be more limited in he can’t scramble as much or throw the deep bombs. Even at 75% he is still better than almost any QB in football. The offense will have to adjust some.

Andy has a week to draw the offense down some to protect Pat. Run more, more screens, TEs in to help block for our OTs. If anyone can come up with a plan to make this easier, it’s Andy.

That’s the beauty of having one of the greatest offensive minds of all time as our HC.
