Imagine for a second if all these things happen:

Toney, John Ross and Justyn Ross all stay healthy most of the season. Moore takes a big leap with another training camp in Andy’s offense. Veach trades up to get one of the best WRs in the draft.

What everybody perceives as a big weakness right now could conceivably be a big strength.

If 2 of those work out we’re going to be in great shape

Well I think we've all imagined that could happen . . .

I've imagined that I won the 2 billion dollar lottery. And Scarlett Johanssen delivers the news to me in leather lingerie complete with thigh high stiletto-tipped boots. And Gal Gadot is holding the check wearing nothing but a smile.

I mean, it could happen . . .

I'll bet Powell & Smith-Marsette beat those 2 out

We are in a real unique position.

Rules for Chief's WRs with Mahomes:
1. NO penalties
2. NO fumbles
3. If it touches your hands you better catch it.
4. You only need a step of separation for PM
5. NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER give up on a route or stop running.......NEVER!
6. Listen to Andy Reid, PM and the coaches.
7. No showboating, taunting or calling out your competition.
8. It's NEVER about you, it's about the team
9. No bitching
10. You get to catch passes thrown from Patrick Lavon Mahomes II, the greatest QB of all time. You better be grateful.

I guess KC did eventually trade his ass to Miami...

But after Hill did a backflip into the endzone, didn't Andy say something about
Tyreek works hard and it's okay to have fun now and then???

Erase the Rosses and suddenly the probability becomes fairly high. Likely without much change in production.

Exactly.

Here's the thing: I'm pretty sure we suit up 5 WRs per game. So, right now it looks like:

Toney
Skyy
MVS
Justyn Ross
John Ross
Richie James
???
???
???

But when you look up John Ross' injury history and chances of him getting injured in 2023, it comes up 93% chance of injury in 2023, 15% per game. Justyn doesn't have any % because he hasn't played in the NFL, but we can assume that he probably has similar percentages, maybe somewhat (10%?) less.

So Veach signs a guy like James partially because he doesn't have an injury history. He's literally insurance. Plus, he basically plays from the slot, and so does Skyy, so lots of overlap. Then if Toney goes down, either Skyy or James will slide into that role.

I'm assuming that James has a decently high football IQ so he picks up the playbook relatively quickly and will be able to do those things, but Veach and Andy don't pick up dumb WRs generally speaking, so i feel like that's a safe bet.

1. MVS
2. Skyy
3. Toney
4. James
5. John Ross
6. Justyn Ross

Man oh man do we need to hit on a WR in the draft

I’m not entirely sold that the Ross duo can’t push higher in the depth chart

The Ross' could both stay completely healthy and won't play 50 snaps combined. They're just not good. They're back end roster guys that'll maybe develop into good special teams players or something.

I don't know how you can say that about Justyn Ross with a straight face. He had almost 2400 yards and 20 TDs at Clemson in a little over 2 1/2 seasons. He hasn't played a single snap in the NFL, but you're branding him as "not good". Let's see what Andy and PMII think.

This will actually be a great litmus test -

If a guy with good speed and good route running ability that has been considered a JAG in his career so far can put up 57 rec for 569 yds and 4 TDs with a Daniel Jones at QB, what will this same guy do with a Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball?

Also, after draft we are going to know what Veach's plan for winning every year is going forward. I've been saying its a 2023 model of the Brady'patriots model

Elite QB
Great O-Line
JAG WR's and RB's
Solid Defense

Honestly? If he repeat those numbers here this year that would be great.

I'd have to argue by exp and yardage MVS is our #1 WR, Toney is our #1 weapon.

That plan failed horribly for the packers.
