Hopefully KC comes out and keeps the Raiders from moving the ball (which is something they haven't been able to do the last few seasons).

You have Russell playing for your defense you will be fine

ChiefMojo 09-20-2009 12:37 PM

Don't worry billay that is the norm for this board. Mess up one play and your the worst thing in the world. Cassel actually had a very solid first half. Considering the guy has been out for what... three weeks?

He made a stupid decision. Not saying he should be benched or anything.

Bob Dole 09-20-2009 12:37 PM

There is far too much Hermlike BS happening in this game.

beach tribe 09-20-2009 12:38 PM

Matt Cassel should be benched for that shit

Mecca 09-20-2009 12:38 PM

Cassel's first half is a mixed bag some good some bad, but the bad is the play that stands out so that's what is remembered.

Rain Man 09-20-2009 12:38 PM

My observations so far:

Jamarcus Russell is really, really bad.
Oakland seems to hae a lot of talent on the D-line if they can develop them.
What's up with the short checkdowns to the left flat during the two-minute drill? That was unacceptable.
I love Bowe. Blocks, catches, runs, just a complete player.
Branden Albert is no Damion McIntosh.
Tank Tyler is playing good today.
Derrick Johnson has made more plays as a third-stringer than he ever made as a first-stringer.
If this team still had Tony Gonzalez, we'd be undefeated.

No. No, no, no, no, no. If a 27 year old QB needs this year to learn from his mistakes than it was not smart to trade for him. Cassel HAS to have higher expectations than that.

OldTownChief 09-20-2009 12:38 PM

True.

But don't fool yourself, he has 75 yards passing and is completing just over half his throws.

Still, he's the present and the future and I have hope.

kcxiv 09-20-2009 12:39 PM

Gonzo went from totally football depressed to ****ing Hugh Hefner happy.

If the whole season is a mixed bag this year for Cassel thats a success. This offense is shit and they'll be playing behind alot with the shitty defense.

Yeah, but the Chiefs have a way of making QBs look better than they are.

Still, I don't know I've seen a QB performance that crappy at Arrowhead since Ryan Leaf made a visit in week three of his rookie season.

Cassel pretty much played like ass the 1st half. That said it's only one half of football.

He had happy feet even when he had decent protection
His accuracy was terrible
He played scared
His decision making was meh

Marcellus 09-20-2009 12:41 PM

If not for Cassel we probably wouldn't have been in position to have that play at the end of the half.Croyle would have been sacked 3 more time by now and CAssel turned those plays into positive yards.

Sweet Daddy Hate 09-20-2009 12:41 PM

Say good bye to that 15 yards, round 2 is Air Time, and he just let fly like a mother****er.

I just need some wins o CBS doesn't axe their ass...............again.

Titty Meat 09-20-2009 12:41 PM

If Brodie Croyle was playing we'd be winning Cassel sucks!

OldTownChief 09-20-2009 12:41 PM

At least we still have Suck Up!!!

banyon 09-20-2009 12:41 PM

Well that should definitely make Keyshawn Johnson's "CMON MAN!" segment tonight.

acesn8s 09-20-2009 12:41 PM

The last play of the half reminds me of Gonzo catching the ball on the 7 yardline against NE at the end of the game that kept us from winning.

big nasty kcnut 09-20-2009 12:41 PM

We will be ok. Haley coaching good.

I'm with that if I wanted to see a year of mistakes and learning...I'd go with a rookie.

Sweet Daddy Hate 09-20-2009 12:42 PM

TD Sanchez to Keller. Three plays. Moving along.

Chiefs4TheWin 09-20-2009 12:42 PM

I'm actually disappointed wth the first half.. That last play was just bad football.

Cassel looks decent to me though. Last year half those ""hurries"" would of been sacks FFs or anything else.

edit: nm you cant get sacked kneeling down.

Easy 6 09-20-2009 12:42 PM

108 rushing in the first half?

Thats cool.

kstater 09-20-2009 12:42 PM

LMAO

Russell is 3/13.

RINGLEADER 09-20-2009 12:42 PM

Good, if obvious, point by the announcers. If the TE doesn't force us to burn a time out we'd be up in spite of Cassel's brain fart.

the Talking Can 09-20-2009 12:43 PM

we held oakland ot 27 yards rushing

[insert excuses]

Fritz88 09-20-2009 12:43 PM

I just got to watch the game in the last 10 mins. After watching the stats, I think we are not doing that bad. It's just the last few plays that depressed me.

Oakland kind of limited themselves to 27 yards by refusing to give it to McFadden.

Flag again?

Dear god this crew blows chicken balls.

Mr. Laz 09-20-2009 12:44 PM

Anyone remember when Trent Green did the same thing that Cassel just did in his 1st year as a Green.

Green threw short ... i think it was Kimble anders or something.

Cassel looks much better throwing on the run than he does in the pocket.

I don't disagree with anything here.

My hope is that the end of the half was an abnormal blip on the radar as far as Cassel is concerned. He HAS to be a heady player who doesn't wilt in the most pressure-filled situations.

Last play aside, he's been a very pleasant surprise from my perspective.

the Talking Can 09-20-2009 12:45 PM

nice pass to wade

ChiefMojo 09-20-2009 12:45 PM

Wade is Cassel's fav target. I think he feels he is the Chiefs Wes Welker.

Mr. Laz 09-20-2009 12:45 PM

Hey,Hey,Hey

a couple of good throws by Cassel to start the 2nd half. Strong throws
