Alex Smith must meet the following requirements:

THe chiefs will win at least 10 games, and alex smith will start all of them. 95 rating, 65 % completion percentage, 3500 yards, 22 tds. Taking bets. PM ME.

TambaBerry 03-15-2013 01:33 AM

All of Sean Smiths downfalls are coachable, he got signed because he is 6 foot 3 215 lbs runs a 4.47 40 and is only 25 years old. Upisde is the most valuable thing in this league.

You have more inside I can tell. Let it out.

TambaBerry 03-15-2013 01:54 AM

I asked Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. if this is the best trio of cornerbacks in the NFL. This is what he had to say: “What stands out right away is just how physical these three are. Flowers certainly can mix it up versus the run or pass. Smith is gigantic and can really bang receivers around in press and through the route. Robinson is a big hitter who is quick to insert in the run game and throw his body around. I see Robinson in somewhat of a Charles Woodson cornerback/safety hybrid -- and he could do that very well. I wouldn’t say that overall this group has great speed, but it is tough to come up with another cornerback threesome that is their equal off the top of my head.”

Don't know if this was posted yet but its from Bill Williamson post about Sean Smith

Hammock Parties 03-15-2013 01:55 AM

Bill Williamson is a very smart individual.

Anyone says Shawna Smith is physical immediately loses credibility.

ArmyChief 03-15-2013 02:59 AM

Great pickup. Now we have someone who can play opposite Flowers and not get penalties and burned all the DAYUM time like Routt...

Pasta Little Brioni 03-15-2013 03:04 AM

Pretty good YPA allowed and completion percentage against. Not near as bad as his crusader is making him out to be.

Reality of CB contracts: Sean Smith (KC) could be 1yr-$7.5M, Cary Williams (PHI) could be 1ys-$5.75M; Rodgers-Cromartie (DEN)-1yr-$5M ...

Actually, if you look at it on a per snap basis (or a per game basis), both he and Kaepernick should move up on that list, and Alex Smith ends up being about where Matt Schaub is (i.e. above average).

Heh, in the Donnie Avery highlights in the one-on-one interview on kcchiefs.com they show him toasting Sean Smith. Found that kinda funny...

In that GIF I see Sean Smith playing his coverage perfectly, the safety got burned he was playing the inside and that was a beautifully thrown ball and an excellent catch.

meh, shit happens when you let guys get a free release. Safety had over coverage, bit on play fake. That was the safety's play to make. Good play by Smith to not pass him off when he saw the safety out of position.

Yup, I got to this point yesterday.

And in reality, he won't ever abandon it. He'll hold fast on this one for at least 2 years.

Smith's absurdly talented, he's young, he can improve. If he doesn't, c'est la vie. That's where I am.

Using Go Chiefs pff stats, he is improving. young bump player in an attacking defense. it improves an area of weakness. solid signing

On a fins defense full nobodys who were poorly coached.

To paraphrase DJ, he has plenty of natural talent and is too young to have hit his ceiling yet... he's just now coming into his prime, you're being needlessly obstinant.

Vontae Davis has never had a season as poor as Sean Smith.

In fact pretty much every season he had in Miami puts Sean Smith to shame.

Tamba Hali was a complete garbage RDE after Jared Allen left too.

If you're not used to your strengths in a scheme, you are going to suck.

Claynus pimping a site who ranked Stanford Routt as the 10th best corner in 2012.

What? Young, talented players can improve their level of play with the right scheme fit!!!! OMGz.

Stanford wasnt the 12th best corner. He sucked balls big time but again, he's a press corner like Sean. We'll be fine

BossChief 03-16-2013 08:50 PM

I bet corner is the hardest position for a site like PFF to grade because it's nearly impossible to tell who was at fault when a td is given up without knowing the playcall.

Case in point is that half the gifs GC has posted probably weren't his fault.

In 2011 he had a good year and that's what you saw.

By the slanted numbers you provided. Numbers that exposed him to a higher rating because of his number of snaps. He's not even top 20 when average by snaps are compared.

He wasn't rated the 10th best CB in the league. LMAO

He was rated 84th overall.

He did have a decent coverage rating though, but had a terrible rating overall due to TDs allowed and leading the league in penalties...which is why I argued he sucked.

Nothing slanted about being worst in the league in a major statistic.

And when you compare him per snap to the othe guys on that list...he's still the worst, because he played the same number of snaps as those other guys.

No legs to stand on, friend!

No, the Dolphins had good safety play.

PFF grades independent of other players, anyway.

The guy sucks, and has sucked, for two years.
