So instead just sit back, bank picks, and roll with the draft? How has that worked for this defense?

I get your point, and agree.

Mecca is simply making the point that IF the Chiefs REALLY wanted it to get it done, then it would get done and the cap now, and later, can be dealt with to accommodate the move.

You've got to have good cheap labor to make up for the big contracts.

I'm not sure why you've been so argumentative to people who may have a hangup on this. It's not cut and dry one way or the other.

wow I can't believe this thread is still going. If it was going to happen it would have already IMO.

That's exactly how I feel about it also. But there is this," You Never KNOW" voice talking to me in my head, and at the moment it's louder than the other voices in there. :)

That's the whole point.

Jesus Christ dude KC is not the only team that values draft picks & building long term competitiveness through the draft.

They also gave Sammy Watkins and Anthony Hitchens a boat load of $ so its not like they are just trying to be cheap.

This isn't a football discussion this is a hitsmage & Mecca circle jerk with snide comments made to anyone who doesn't agree like they are simply morons.

The arrogance is over the top.

Why wouldn't I be argumentative. A team that hasn't won a Super Bowl since the year I was born has a REAL chance to win one THIS YEAR and people are like "oh noes, too risky. There's always next year!"

Do you really have to ask?

Look at the rest of the guys picked in the late first the last couple years though. It's not really been that good. Compared to them, Dee has been good.

It also shows people overrate draft picks.

Wrong.

I happen to agree with Mecca on this subject. I've disagreed with Mecca in the past FAR more than I've agreed with him. So you can put the brakes on that whole idea. It's wrong.

And I absolutely know teams value 1st round picks. That's not the point.

*I* don't value late 1st round picks, especially when I'm the fan of a team that has repeatedly suggested they don't know how to use them.

Because as DJLN brought up a few days ago, it's still so random.

Sure, Thomas increases your chances, but it doesn't make it a sure thing. I'd prefer they give themselves as many high chances to win over the next decade as they can.

If they can trade for Earl and do that, go for it.

How does that help them now?
