With a name like Cupcakes, it has to be true.

Wait, sorry, Brownies is reporting the deal is not done. I repeat, the deal is NOT done.

Let's put a trade package together for Carlos Gonzalez.

Dave Cameron suggests 3/48 to 3/60 with an opt-out after 1 year. I don't think that sounds all that bad for us if that's what it took. I don't mind the opt outs anyway because I'd love for him to have an AS year for us even if he bailed.
The wrench in that is the comp pick. I can't see a team giving that up on a guy who can go after 1 year. Analysis I've seen pegs that comp pick at $10M so you'd essentially be adding that to a deal. If he does go 3/48 then you paid him the $16M plus the $10M on the comp. $26M for Gordon doesn't sound appealing, although if he did go 276-18-80 with great defense, a team could live with that price |
If the Royals give opt outs it should be after 2 years. We have a 2 year window left.

This is the rumor from 1 account...cupcakes is mocking them as is most of Royals twitter.
@royalsclubhouse: Feel that tomorrow could very well be a "big day" for the #Royals and Alex Gordon. 9hrs ago @royalsclubhouse: Happy to feed the trolls tonight. But will they apologize later? |

I've been saying for weeks now that I think he comes back. The longer we go without seeing huge contracts give out to the rest of the OFs, the better our chances get.
We need him, too. I don't think we can get by with Infante at 2B, and patchwork at both corner OF spots. Our lineup was effective without superstars because we had no glaring weaknesses last year. Our current lineup without Alex is pretty gross. |
