Bulking season is officially over.

Time for Silock's yearly body weight experiment. Trying a new cutting diet this year. I'm hesitant to reveal all the details just yet, but it's not last year's Ultimate Diet, nor is it Keto. We'll see how long I stick with it and if it's effective.

Starts tomorrow!

I just restarted my program with the conditioning phase. Damn. I really hate doing 10 reps. I finished my workout in a puddle of sweat today.

I don't feel like I've effectively worked out if I don't need to change my shirt before I leave the gym...lol.

Question about the Keto diet. I'm looking at Keto menu plans, and I see things like this:
6oz steak fried in butter or grilled
1 oz whole cheese
1 oz broccoli or other low carb vegetable
water

Then similar type meals for lunch, etc. I get the science behind it, but in reality, isn't this diet just an "everything in moderation" diet minus the carbs? I mean, people generally eat a steak bigger than that, and more veggies than that. This seems more like a portion control diet without carbs. Is that pretty much what it is?

As I mentioned early it looks like it also may possibly be favorable to the weight loss being body fat while maintaining the muscle tissue, as opposed to losing both as one would using a normal caloric deficit. I've been up and down the scale quite a bit over the years and usually when I dropped weight I felt I looked the same, but just smaller. After running Keto I felt like I shedded about 30lbs of body fat and kept all the muscle instead of losing both and I also kept my strength on all my major lifts which normally isn't the case.

Yeah, that is definitely a bonus, although, I think that is true of just about any diet with sufficient protein intake and a good training regimen. The ultimate diet that I did last year isn't keto, but instead super light on fats and heavy on the protein, with some carb cycling thrown in at the end of the week. It also preserved my muscle, but it included very specific instructions on how to run both the diet and the very detailed lifting portion, as well.

Right. Keeping carbs down seems to have been the key with me this time. I never though I could become this vascular or maintain my strength at sub 200lbs.
