The stories I was reading basically say that the mother is a bit of a whack job and his brother was going through a divorce with her that was crazy messy and this ended up as part of it because of how bad she wanted custody. Where he felt he had to go to the cops or he'd risk losing his daughter.

Also it said that him and his brother don't speak but it was more on Luke's part than the brother as the brother has to talk to the parents about how he is doing.

This is all a he said she said thing for the most part other than one thing I will agree with is testimony of a 5 year is only so believable as you can basically lead them into saying anything you want.

I'm not even defending the guy or thinking they should sign him as it will cause outrage and all that jazz cause people flip out but the story has a ton of layers to it and isn't just some shut and closed this is what happened type of case.

The assertion five years can easily be led into lies re: sexual abuse is a dangerous and misplaced one, Mecca.

There are divorce situations where a child is drilled in some lies for custody leverage reasons, but the counselors who work with children making these types of allegations can separate the planted claims pretty quickly through extra questions.

Kids this age just don’t make this stuff up.

Also the he was 15 thing isn't even true he was 13 and charged at 15..

I can actually show you cases where kids are lead into saying thing's that aren't true.

There was a daycare one where something like this was alleged and they had the kids saying things like they took daily plane trips to Mexico and there were magical fairies, you can google this stuff and it does happen a lot.

Kids can be led into saying thugs that aren’t true. They almost without exception can’t be led into lying about sexual abuse and have it hold up when they speak with family services. Especially when the family services intervention and interview with the counselor comes before an interview with police (as it did in this case).

My wife was a special victims unit prosecutor for several years. I do work with children’s hospitals and have observed first-hand how hospitals handle these cases and analyzed data on child abuse and sexual child abuse. I’m not just talking out of my ass here.

He was 12 or 13 when the abuse first happened while she was 4. It was not reported as an isolated incident but instead something that happened a few times over a few years. She reported it when she was six.

Duncan, serious question for you. Would you quit being a Royals fan if they sign this guy?

I don’t think so. But I would lose a tremendous amount of respect for Dayton Moore, and I would never root for Heimlich, or attend a game he started should he make it to the majors.

Don't worry I'm sure Dayton Moore thinks it's all porns fault.

Understandable, I have felt the same way about the Buccaneers since they drafted Winston.

You know, maybe he does.

It’s incredibly hypocritical for him to be so vocally opposed to pornography and tout how it destroys families and people (despite all evidence being to the contrary) ... while making excuses for a player who plead guilty to a crime that does actually destroy families and people (based on actual evidence).

I don’t agree with Moore’s faith-based perspectives, but I have at least been able to respect him in the past despite not sharing an iota of his religious beliefs.

That respect would shatter if he went through with signing Heimlich.

10th round slot value is like $140k.

My daughter had a friend named Marquise Doherty that was drafted by the Royals in the 15th round out of high school a few years ago. He declined and chose to go to Mizzou to try and play two sports, football and baseball. Unfortunately for him, he showed up the year before the whole CS1950 thing went down, ended up leaving Mizzou, and went off to some JUCO somewhere, and I have heard nothing of him since. Hindsight being what it is, he really should have taken that offer and worked his way up. As good of a football player as he was (and he really was), he was an even better baseball player. Ah, what might have been for him. Super great kid, too.

I was wrong about Tyreek Hill when they drafted him as I said I would never cheer for him. The thing is when he catches a deep ball and scores a TD I do cheer. Then He takes his helmet off on sideline and there is that happy go lucky smile. I think to myself that kid punched and choked his pregnant girlfriend. I just cant fathom that and how you get so pissed.

Nah I dont see at all how Dayton could possibly sign him and remain in KC running a family type organization.

It's sad he chose not to attend Mizzou because of that ridiculous protest.

I think Doherty would have been better served taking the same path as Monte Harrison and focusing on baseball/signing out of HS.

It's a shame when talent goes to waste.

That was one of the guys they drafted late that I expected to require some overslot dollars. He's the royals dream player type - big, physical kid with great tools. And he also has some skill to go along with them.

To be fair, that wasn't the only reason he left Mizzou. He was having problems with his coaches of both sports only wanting him to focus on THEIR sport, not just the stupid ass CS1950 shit. Felt like I needed to make that clear and not paint him into some corner.
