Will Smith is leading us to the promised land. Do not use his name in vain.

You don't want to win the World Series? He is key.

Anyone keeping an eye on Alec Marsh in Omaha? Any chance of him coming back up and heling out the bullpen?

He’ll likely be back next Monday for the double header against Cleveland.

No, I don't know how he's doing. After tomorrow's day off, Royals have 14 games in 13 days against some very competitive teams. (Philly 3; Cleveland 7; Houston 4) So I expect them to bring someone up for at least a spot start? And then a place in the bullpen maybe?

When does roster expansion start?

Yes, for the doubleheader.

Roster limits
Teams have been at the new normal 26-man levels all season. Come Sept. 1, through the rest of the season, active rosters will expand again to cover 28 players, no more, no less. Teams can carry 14 pitchers at most, too, to cut down on the endless parade of bullpen arms that often made September games a slog.

He has been dominant at Omaha. Sub-2 ERA, sub-1 WHIP, better than a K/IP. They're limiting him to 4 IP or less each time out, though - only 19 IP through 5 starts.

I'm being lazy, and haven't looked it up yet. I know the old 40 man roster rules no longer exist, and it's now down to 28 eligible guys after September 1st. But does that include a limited number of recalls for players, and is there any kind of waiting period?

I haven't looked at it that closely. Maybe someone knows?

We could use Neris a lot more than the Astros.

Neris hasn't been a game-changer but would have been a nice fit in the 7th inning.

Any idea if starting or coming out of the pen? Would be nice if he could be a reliable arm coming in and giving a couple innings for when our starters don't make it through 7.

tk13 08-22-2024 11:51 AM

Not sure how it lines up but there's a doubleheader against Cleveland next week. They are either going to need an extra starter or push guys out on short rest because there's no off days. I'm guessing Marsh starts one of the doubleheader games next week.
