I expected you to have a practical solution to deal with soreness and recovery. That's the whole reason I posted was to get some good feedback from you. Guess I was wrong.

Yoga isn't practical? Think of it as stretching, which would also help.

I am about 5 lbs heavier than when I started last year. I'm also stronger than I was last year. So, there's that. It isn't the first time I've tipped the 200 lbs mark, but I didn't know I was that high. Certainly explains why I've been so slow on the soccer field lately.

I wouldn't mind losing 30 lbs in 60 days. I'll bet I can do at least 20.

Yeah I don't think he was sincere with that. And if I did do yoga when do I do it? That may be something for next winter. And I stretch several times a week.

There is no practical solution to aging, aside from drugs. I do recommend yoga, though. Getting a consistent and deep stretch is good for injury prevention, especially as we age. Soreness is going to happen. I'm only 33 and I can't take a full week off of lifting or the next time I lift, I'm as sore as if I never worked out in my whole life.

Other than that, it's just the basics: stretch every day, get a foam roller and learn how to use it, ensure adequate nutrition and sleep, and drink lots and lots of water.

Well, there's a difference between stretching and actually doing yoga classes. It will stretch you out in all kinds of ways for far longer than most of us actually sit down and stretch. I am doing four yoga classes per week these days for injury prevention. It's the best warmup for lifting in the entire world, as well. When do you do it? Whenever you want. There are YouTube yoga classes and classes at the gym. You pick.

I understand but my point was that I do some working out, treadmill, and I try to put it together in two days and then after that I need a quick turnaround because I'm going to take one day off and then do golf for three days in a row. I don't see how yoga fits into that during what I'll call the season. I'd have to heal from that.

I was really looking for some advice on nutrients and such I guess but I appreciate your response.

You could do some yoga before you go play golf every day. It could help. I'm not sure what you mean "you'd have to heal from that." From golf or yoga?

Unfortunately, if there were a nutrient or combination of nutrients that prevented muscle soreness, everyone would know about it. It would be awesome. But, rest, hydration and stretching is about all you can really do, short of steroids. Getting old sucks, man.

I think I've come to the realization that I will never have a flat tummy. My skin is going to be too loose. I think my arms may end up being that way too, but I'm hoping not. It sucks, but I can deal with it. It will not deter me from my goal of 25% body fat.
