Mahomes has clearly played his worst season of football since he's been a Chief. It's true. Doesn't mean he's played like shit (only compared to his lofty standards). Just not as the best QB in the league. He's still playing at a Top 5 or 7 QB at the very least.

He blatantly missed Kelce in the end zone today for the game winning TD. Again, not playing bad but he hasn't been vintage Patrick Mahomes. It's ok to say it. It is an observation. Obviously nobody else we would rather have.

Making one bad throw doesn't mean this is the worst season of his career. The stats tell us it isn't.

Still you put yourself in that position. Its lucky. You can't count on your special teams to block a 35 yard kick very often. That's not winning football in the long run. But these games happen. 9-0. The Chiefs are going to have a worst game and so far today was it.

I think 2021 was probably worse. He had Tyreek Hill and a younger Kelce. Orlando Brown was better than Wanya & Kingsley at LT. Struggled for a huge chunk of that 2021 season. These are Patrick's ESPN QBR grades lately:

We might have lost the game if Mahomes makes that throw to Kelce. Our D was struggling to stop them until they turtled up for the FG.
