Huge

And exciting.

And very expensive.

But sure, the offense is fine and we need all that star power on defense.

They have the money and draft capital to do both.

Do we though? Look at the money other teams have. How are we supposed to sign a big time WR, perhaps even give up draft picks on top of it if we are trading for one, and still fix the defense?

We don't need all the stars on defense. But shouldn't a few be on defense?

We have guys who can step up and progress at guard and WR. We don't really have that at the defensive spots. I don't think it's crazy to go into next year and see Mahomes help make Conley and Robinson good WR's.

Please be Allen Robsinson.

Gotta get some defensive FA's though, as it stands they need a starting safety, ILB, NT and arguably a corner. With no first round pick, you can't expect that many starters from the draft.

Over the cap has the Chiefs at $14m cap space after the two trades, so after the Parker cut and the assumed Hali cut that would be $27m cap space. Bailey would be another $6m, but then you only have 1 DL signed...

Of that $27m-$33m, you need to re-sign some cheap guys (KPL, Mitchell, Nunez-Roches, Fulton if cheap), spend some of it on the draft and leave some wiggle room for mid season signings.

Of the ~$20m we can spend on free agents, I kind of hope at least $15m goes on the defense, and I'm okay with a bit of backloading (e.g. signing an $8m WR with $5m cap hit in the coming year) but not a lot.

What are you referring to bro?

Any star FA WRs out there without an injury history?

That's why I think Watkins is too big of a risk. Allen Robinson I believe just has this year's ACL injury, right? Any others?

No, OBJ is not even on the radar. He's a pipe dream.

A "put asses in the seats " type deal.

Just a gut feeling. Anything can happen this time of year

We’re going to draft defense like crazy. Veach said that when a draft has some depth and FA doesn’t at a position, you have to attack in during the draft. And vise versa.

It’s a weak defensive FA group. We’ll use most of our draft capital there.

Is forcing him to put up 30 points to win the best way to get him to succeed? With his mentality, getting him to pull the ball down once in a while is a big progression for him. If we want him to learn how to tow the (aggressive)line, I don't think it's wise to have an unbalanced team.

Hill, Kelce, Hunt, and Ware is a good block for Mahomes to work with. I don't think it's crazy to expect Mahomes to help Conley or Robinson turn into a good #2 WR(which would be the #3 passing option).

Tempering my excitement
