Just pretend that in an alternate reality where Jones signs an extension before the season that he would have suffered a season ending injury in week 3. Instead, we get a 100% healthy Chris Jones for the second half of the season and he will be one of the fresher players as we head into the playoffs.

Megatron96 09-08-2023 03:37 PM

Spags did a spectacular job without CJ.

But the question is, what did it take to generate that pass rush and blunt that rushing attack. Because I saw a ton of simulated blitzes and different looks, as well as Sneed and mcDuffie and Reid playing in/near the box last night.

Just how long can our defense keep that up? And what parts of the field were wide open because of it?

I think we got a little lucky that DET didn't run Gibbs more, and that they seemed to miss some of their WRs wide open at times.

Bottom line, I don't think the lesson from last night is "our defense doesn't need Chris Jones." But i guess we'll know for certain when we play NYJ in three weeks. Because if we can't pressure AR and he can just stand there and throw, or if he figures out the blitz pre-snap, he won't miss the opportunities that I'm certain Goff missed last night.

I really want to know how he picked his agents.

Even if he walked for nothing after the season, he's still one of the league's best defensive players and is worth every cent of that as a rental, toward getting another Lombardi

Depends on what you can get for him. For a 2nd? It's likely only contenders want him, so it may be a low 2nd. A 2nd and a 4th, maybe vs a Comp 3? You have to consider it.

He must be in debt to a loan shark or something

A lot of posts say Jones’s franchise tag for 2024 will be lower but according to Satan (Florio) Jones’s franchise isn’t affected by at all if he reports by week 8.

Per multiple sources, Jones’s cap number of $27 million becomes the starting point for his tag in 2024, even if he doesn’t earn all of his $19.5 million salary. That equates to a franchise tag, by rule, of $32.4 million in 2024 (i.e., a 120-percent increase over his 2023 cap number).

It will go even higher if Jones, in the games he plays, gets 10 total sacks. His cap number would increase by the ensuing $1.25 million incentive, and the franchise tag amount would become $33.9 million

Florio is A) A liar and B) A goddamn idiot.

Why would you say "Yeah but Florio says..." as though it means anything?

I keep reading this, and everybody in media is ready to crown his ass. And I won't lie I was way more scared of him than Montgomery.

But I'm guessing he can't pass protect or he'd be in there more.

Most rookie RBs can't.

But as well as he was running last night, I'd have called more rushes if I were the DET OC. He was gashing us.

I mean we're talking about someone who is apparently stupid enough to hold out long enough to cost himself $20 million in 2023 and 2024. I don't think he's a rational actor these days.

Maybe the NFL will award the Chiefs an honorary Lombardi for disrespecting the guy into screwing himself out of money.

Most NFL fans watching the AFC Championship game thought Joe Burrow was going to get Bengals into FG range on that last drive.

Joe Burrow is now the highest paid NFL player ever. The Hall of Fame player that ended that drive in time for Chiefs to get ball back and drive into FG range is asking for a respectable deal.

Chiefs could pay a market rate deal and figure it out, maybe they can tell Chris Jones to go **** himself and still win Super Bowl LVIII, but seems unlikely.

I guess if Chiefs let Jones **** himself out of gamechecks, we can wait to see how fun it will be to think about Jones having a few less million dollars and compare that fun to watching Chiefs win a Lombardi.

This guy isn't a Chiefs fan, is he? Seems obvious now that he's just trolling. I guess there are more fans here of other teams than I realized.
