Stafford is playing well on a fairly bad team but he was a #1 overall pick.

Sanchez is on a really talented team.

Someone commented on KC's o-line being worse and you used the sack stat.

KC's line is obviously much worse then Detroit's and especially the Jets.

Don't forget NYJ had the AFC's leading rusher last year. Their line is good.

Jets 0 Saints 17

NYPost On Jeremy Shockey:

Quote:

"His kind of resurgence is one of the reasons, I think, that the Saints are where they are on offense, because [Brees] has all those other options at wide receiver, but now he also has a viable option at tight end," Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said, "a guy that's got great hands, understands how to play, understands how to get open, leverage. . . . He knows the tricks of the trade. . . . He can push off . . . all the things that the veteran tight ends do."

Earnhardt Nation used to hold up three fingers (#3 car) for Dead Dale -- and 8 for Junior

Wait a minute -- Junior drives the #88.

Junior whose soap opera relationship with his stepmother and car owner of the #8 was played out in the open & in court when his dad died -- I'll explain the story in smittysbar thread -- When Junior left, Teresa ...she told the world that he would no longer drive #8 ... The number is an Earnhardt heirloom that dates back to Junior's grandfather.

The number meant so much to Junior, that he offered millions to buy it. She refused to sell it. However, Teresa doesn't own the number -- NASCAR does. As long as the number is on the track, she owns it. But, Trinket Lady effed herself when Bud pulled their sponsorship last spring. She failed to find a sponsor or a driver, so the car was forced off the track.

His stepmother pulled another fast one, when Junior discovered he did not own his name.

You're wrong. Clean shot.

Terrible call I ever seen in my entire life.

Like he was talking about all the head injury studies they want less of that.

You're wrong. There was no helmet-to-helmet contact at all. It was shoulder pad to upper body.

There should have been no flag on that play.

Mecca 10-04-2009 07:46 PM

It ended up being a bad call on replay problem is refs don't get to go look at replay for penalty calls and I did think he got him in the head on real speed.

Mecca 10-04-2009 07:47 PM

Darren Sharper got one in the Saints game too...it wasn't just that reffing crew.

There are going to be calls like this alot because they're suppose to protect safety or some such.

This is why i think that every play should be reviewable. If the ref up in the booth sees an obvious error, he needs to overturn it immediatley.

Mecca 10-04-2009 07:50 PM

The thing is the league is very aware of all these studies of retired players having brain damage etc etc, so they're going to go overboard to try to get rid of big hits especially ones to the head even if it means making some bad calls.

This. I do not know why penalties(PI, personal fouls) cannot be challenged.

Mecca 10-04-2009 07:52 PM

Because most penalties are judgment calls.

They'll never make those reviewable because the games would last forever.

Then here's a suggestion. How about getting rid of the unnecessary time outs in between kickoffs to the offense/defense getting on the field? That alone consumes alot of time.

Another suggestion is to reduce the timeouts in between possession changes as well.

Those two combined, can extend the time as long as an extra hour, IMHO.

The NFL likes to make money

Mecca 10-04-2009 07:56 PM

Yea not gonna happen they want sponsor money.

What you have now is basically what it's gonna be, hell there are plenty of people that don't want any replay at all.
