Probably not the greatest accomplishment in sports history, but definitely the greatest accomplishment in KS sports history. Of the latter there is simply no question.

It burns your ass to have to split with what you all consider little brother in the state and conference. Only thing worse would be if it had happened with Mizzou. I'd much rather be at the top of both major sports than have a constant top-10 team in one sport and a 1-11 team that hasn't finished above .500 in conference in over 5 years in the other. Radio's fatass replacement isn't going to change that either.

It's not a sports thing, relax. Kansas State University is an agriculture school, University of Kansas is the flagship university in the state.

Yeap, conference championships in both basketball and football are greater accomplishments than a conference championship in basketball, a BCS bowl win in football and a national championship in basketball.

No question.

No question.

Is the Bowflex Bowl still nationally recognized when played against the Catholic Basketball Conference?

Cutting the nets down tomorrow night. Gonna be a fun event.

And it's not even close.

Totally agreed. Sagarin put 07 Kansas #2 in his final rating, 12 KSU at #8. While you are correct that's not close, it was still a very good football season in Manhattan this year.

Finishing in 3rd place in your conference without beating a ranked team all year isn't even in the same ball park as actually earning a Fiesta Bowl bid by winning your conference and beating 4 ranked teams(2 of them on the road).

Prison Bitch 03-10-2013 08:55 PM

Sagarin agrees it isn't close.

Too bad Sagarin isn't reality. KSU would wipe the floor with the 2007 KU team.

Pretty sure KU beat the #5 team in the country that year. Dumbass.

Either way, winning 9 straight conference championships in a major sport is by far the greatest accomplishment in the Midwest sports history. It's not even close.

Technically, Va Tech was #1 in the computer portion of the BCS and #3 in the overall rating. After the loss to KU they finished 9 in Sagarin.

Pretty sure that they didn't play a ranked team all year to earn a bowl bid, dumbass. Oh yeah, they played one and lost causing them to finish 3rd and play an almighty ACC football powerhouse. Tech would have been the 5th best team in the Big 12 that year.
