That's pretty shallow satire. "Plating isn't everything" isn't a valid criticism of these kinds of restaurants. In my broad experience they put flavor & technique first; presentation is just that.

Interesting..people getting all out of sorts about eating ants. ****..think about eating an egg..some gelatin/larva like shit that just came out of a chicken's ass. If you had never seen or eaten either..you would most definitely eat the insects first.

There are a lot of things that I would eat if I had to. Hell, if we crash landed in the Andes, I'd eat you. But I wouldn't pay $50 a plate for the honor.

I think there is an underlying metaphor is this..like most things that are considered "world class". The fact that people will eat ants and pay $280 is satirical...much like watching a Kubrick film about war.

Ants represent the "working class"..the rich eat them for their profits. Power always stems off the backs of cheap labor. Paying $280 for a meal ..is because you can. Eating an animal live....similar to big game hunting. How many pictures do you see with megalomaniacs..posing with a lion they shot? On a level playing field..the lion wins 100 out of 100 times. The world isn't what most people think it is....this has nothing to do about "eating a nice steak"
