I don't blame Hosmer on that. Not only was it not hit hard, if he charges he's getting the ball on the short hop and the likelihood of getting that out at home is slim.

He'd have had to immediately charge it and perhaps field on a short hop. Would have been a tough play, but if you're the best defensive first baseman in the league, you go after that play IMO.

For a lefty that is a near impossible throw in what you are suggesting. It's not natural at all.
