They are clearly genetically inclined to it. Pits have a history of specifically being selected and bred for their aggression and size. This isn’t even debatable. The biggest issue is due to random breeding and most pits people buy or adopt not having an established history you don’t know which ones are more predisposed than others. Hence the wide variation. But then there’s also this with their behavior that is probably a factor in almost all negative interactions with them.

Finally, most dogs warn you before they attack, growling or barking to tell you how angry they are—”so they don’t have to fight,” ASPCA advisor and animal geneticist Stephen Zawistowski stresses. Not the pit bull, which attacks without warning. Most dogs, too, will bow to signal that they want to frolic. Again, not the pit bull, which may follow an apparently playful bow with a lethal assault.

Another question,

Anyway to show that he was aware of the shared line before your repair 3 years ago?

Also, anyway a professional could examine the lines and state that with his line cutting into yours it put extra unnecessary stress/damage on them from TWO house holds waste that was never meant for just a single line? Could be grounds for Civil action to bring up to your attorney.

If civil action needs to take place on this, one would think it would be against the previous owners who did not disclose this. :spock:

You'd have better luck pulling an infant from a shitbull's jaws.

Hey neighbor. When you had work done on your sewer line, I realized that it had been run in a completely weird way and runs into my line. I didn't think anything of it at first, but I was talking to a friend of mine who is a real estate agent, and he was really worried about that for both our sake. We now have to disclose that if we ever go to sell our houses, and that's the kind of thing that will scare a lot of buyers off. I also have some work that still needs to be done on the line we apparently share, and while I'd generally be open to sharing the costs, it's just not a viable long-term solution. It's not a huge rush, but my lawyer tells me that the only real way around this is to separate our lines and have you run your own. I know that sucks, so I'm OK if it takes a while, but we really need to get this done in the next year. I'm happy to refer you to my guy if you need it.

Option B:
You have 30 days to get this fixed or I'm capping it off. Also, **** your dog.

I'm not saying my version of Option A is perfect, but OP seems intent on going in guns blazing when he doesn't actually even know what the situation is. If you've consulted with a lawyer who can figure out what the actual options are and found that the only way out of it is by separating the lines, it is what it is. But there's zero reason to just drop this on someone when there's absolutely no rush on this at all. People usually don't have $10k just lying around, and forcing someone to come up with it out of nowhere like that is, again, and epically dickish move.

This.

Oh, I get it. I just think that mindset is dumb....and wrong. And just to be clear, part of the reason for my comments in this thread are from my own experiences. My oldest son, who is doing well in life, has a pit that they rescued several years ago. She is a sweetie. She gets along with all 3 of my boxers as well as one of my other son's dogs. The one dog she doesn't get along with is my other son's dog, some large terrier breed. But it is the other dog that always starts a fight with her.

I can sympathize with the collapsed old clay line problem.

My kitchen sink was inoperable for a good long time because I procrastinated having it fixed. Housekeeper got tired of hand washing my dishes in the bathroom sink, so the gf took over.

Line was fixed yesterday. Wasn’t super expensive, just a complicated project requiring a smart plumber. Dishwasher is ****ed, but I wanted a new one anyway and BF is next week.

Playing the media card on your neighbors when said neighbor knows you absolutely have to use a portable shitter out in your yard is a very bad idea.
