The problem is that the officials are now using guilty until proven innocent with him.

I don't think it's clear at all that he WAS lined up illegally yesterday. Not even with the 'blind eye' treatment. I think the officials couldn't quite tell because he was covered by a WR so they called it because he looked like he might be.

The holds against Jacksonville were egregious, especially the 2nd one. Those were plays where the officials just decided he must have held even though there's just no basis for the call.

They're deciding he's committing a penalty unless they can convince themselves he isn't. That shit's backwards.

It's not even about how he's treated relative to other OTs (though yes, that's absolutely horseshit). It's about how the rulebook is applied to him period.

And you're happy to let them do it. "Who cares if he's technically within the letter of the rules - be MORE legal..."

That's asinine.

Do you have a clip of the illegal formation from the game against Chicago? I can’t find it anywhere.

His helmet is right at Smith's arm and Smith's arm is right at the beltline for the C and it'll be even closer when you cock the camara angle back 5-10 yards to deal with that angle. You can see Creed has his belt line hanging a little beyond the 49. Taylor, from that angle appears to be 6-9 inches behind the 49 at the crown of his helmet but with the angle you can easily 'gain' that 6-9 inches back through cocking the camera even with the LOS. At the very worst, he's even or even a little ahead of Donovan Smith at the snap.

Worse still - look at where the WRs are. The line judge can't have the answer there based on where everyone his standing. There's simply not a clear view. Moore, MVS and Kelce have 6 sets of legs between that official and the crown of Jawaan Taylor's helmet. And whether he is or if he isn't lined up too deep, there's no way to be sure of it based on that.

That's a targeted penalty. That's a penalty because the official WANTED it to be a penalty. There's no way that through 3 weeks there's been ONE other OT called for this and Taylor gets called for one that obviously borderline if the rules are being implemented neutrally.

This isn't the shit that Collinsworth was complaining about. Taylor was told he needs to adjust - he adjusted to where he is, at worst, doing the same thing every other OT in tackle is doing - and he's STILL getting penalized for it.

That's not a 'stop crying about it' thing - that's a 'stop targeting one single player in the entire NFL to make an example of...' thing.

This is bullshit. Full stop.

I’ll give Taylor some credit. He did seem to get a handle on all the pre-snap movements and quick starts, but he is clearly still having issues with alignment.

The hilarious thing is that he stopped with the rocking back and forth and near-false starts and didn’t even look any worse for it. He’s clearly a serviceable tackle at the very least. Dude just needs to line up a bit closer to the LoS and we’ll be good to go.

No. If Andy and Veach and Clark are actually sending something to the league for review, then don't do ****ing anything. Stand your ground.

Taylor made his adjustments. He shouldn't have to go beyond that. He's lined up legally.

**** the NFL. I'd rather take the penalties. It's just 5 ****ing yards.

In the case of the BS penalty right at halftime, it directly led to a Mahomes ankle injury that didn't need to happen on the next play.

Unless you’ve got a better angle, it is clear that Jawaan is lined up illegally here.

You sound like the blowhards at blackjack tables who get pissed at me for just playing my hand as I see fit.

A) no it isn't. Because again - you're not at the LOS at that camera angle. We're talking 4-6 inches at most and I'm not certain that's the case when you do it at increments to account for the slight off LOS angle.

B) he's absolutely exactly aligned at the same depth as Donovan Smith. And the official can't see where he's aligned anyway due to obstruction. And wouldn't have thrown the flag on ANYONE else.

You gonna be okay if they start throwing a flag any time McDuffie slaps a WRs hands as he's running? By the strict letter of the rule, that's illegal contact. And McDuffie has been doing it since he was in high school - the same as EVERY DB is taught to do.

Again - this is being selectively enforced - at best. And the fact that you're cool shrugging and moving along is bizarre to me.

The thing is they aren't calling any of the other OT's for this...he's been singled out.

“Item 1. Non-Snapper. If he is not the snapper, no part of his body is permitted to be in the neutral zone at the snap, and his helmet must break a vertical plane that passes through the beltline of the snapper”

You’re gonna have to get in Microsoft Paint and draw me some diagrams because in no universe is Jawaan’s head level with Creed’s waist

You didn't address anything DJ actually said.

I wonder why they are singling him out.

ThyKingdomCome15 09-26-2023 02:00 AM

Outside of killer penalties our T's are playing well. Clean a few things up and we're ready for the ship.
