LMAO you really do read only what you want. I said he is not a HOF and even gave you a reference. I asked you for one and you have nothing, hence why you ignored that. Jones is under 30 right now, not next year. The irony is you are expecting better comps without actually coming up with any when I asked because yet again you have nothing. Anyways I am done discussing this with you as I feel like I am talking football with someone who only roots for a team because their uniform is pretty. Downvote away.

Sorry, but comparing extending a currently 29 year old Chris Jones for a year or two to a 34 year old Von Miller getting a 6 year deal in Buffalo is reeruned.

That's not a serious football point.

Yeah. It's pretty brutal.

This is why they went young at WR.

They're going to have to go to the Mahomes piggy bank or something. Which sucks, because that raises the hits down the road.

Which we did with Thuney. Exactly how we got here. Just bite the bullett. No kicking the can down the road. We compete every year for a SB.

Still waiting on your comp for Jones or where you are getting Jones being a HOF player.

Hey we kinda agree here. We just have different ideas on how to achieve that goal.

My problem is the draft picks and money. With only 5 draft picks you are extremely limited in what you can do. You probably won't be able to trade up.

The top WR's in FA are gonna ask for at least $26 million APY. We can't do that if we bring Chris back, even though I'm not game for that strategy. I would ideally like the flexibility to be able to spend some money (more than MVS) on a WR like Calvin Ridley for example. Then I'd like the extra picks from the Jones trade to move up for a WR we want.

Rice + proven FA + 1st rd player we like+ Toney as WR4= huge upgrade to me

Meanwhile losing Chris sucks but the defense is still good, and you can probably keep Sneed in that scenario.

So an above average defense (at worst) + a massively upgraded offense due to year 2 Rice and new weapons= kickass high scoring offense

4 Pro Bowls
1 All-Pro
Over 70 sacks
2 SB rings

He's not yet 30.

He is very much on pace as he likely gets another pro bowl and a good chance at leading a top KC defense to its 4th SB overall.

But setting all that aside, he is an elite difference maker and very few other players on the roster are.

He leaves and this defense has very little chance at being top 5 next year, most likely drops to 8-12.

So I am good with moving on with Jones AND Sneed if Jones goes- if we decide to go back to just killing people on offense. Keep the defense young and dirt cheap and just give Mahomes 3 top weapons and he goes nuclear.

With Kelce getting older we'll never see the 2018 Chiefs offense again. With that said a lot of money comes off the books if Jones walks. I think Veach get can lock up Sneed, drop some big money on a WR, and draft another Rashee Rice. Good business.

BossChief 11-19-2023 12:32 AM

If Veach is the wizard we all know he is, he will find a way to bring back Danna and Sneed with CJ95s $ and tag trade Jones for a couple picks that he will turn into absolute gems.

Thinking Jones is going to agree to a year or two extension isn't a serious football point either.

He just wanted more years and resigned for one year.

Whoops, guess you missed that one.

He was already under contract for this year.

The point is it's not impossible he is back.

He wants a longer contract but he also wants to a Chief.

No reason to assume he's gone just because some people here want to get rid of our best players as a default.
