Wrong. I said last summer this wasn't getting done and it didn't. I also said he wouldn't get better and he didn't stat wise. I eat crow this time. They caved and I didn't think they would.

Red Dawg has been the biggest bitch all off season about Jones.

Especially with the salary cap going up $30 million + every year.

I wouldn't anticipate cap jumps as big as this year every year. The reason for the huge increase this year is because the last 2 years had been reduced to pay back for keeping the cap level after the 2020 season. This was the first year since then that the full cap amount was available, hence the larger than normal jump.

Why am I always called out. There are many on here that said hebwajted too much and he did want too much and we wouldn't pay it. **** off with this attack.

Chiefs and Jones agree to new deal

If you include this past season you can really view this as 4 years guaranteed at about $115 million.

I don’t think they would have gone this high last season but after getting him relatively cheap on the tag I think that made these numbers easier.

Red Dawg puts the cereal in after the milk has already been poured. Truly abhorrent behavior.

Yeah, a lot of people were pissed at the holdout and plenty of people thought he could pack his bags if he wanted $30m a year. I didn't say it but I was closer to that position. But the 3-peat is pretty tantalising and it is hard to see us doing it without one of Jones or Sneed staying for big money. I think they probably made the right call picking Jones. Hopefully in the next 3 years they will keep layering talent along the DL through the draft so when he does go it's a smaller drop-off.

That's...a lot.

And the risk is massive but there's risk with someone coming in on a 2nd deal as well (scheme fit, motivation, character/culture, etc...) so it just is what it is.

Hope it works out. I wouldn't have offered that deal but in the end they know more than I do so I guess I'll defer to the teams judgment. It's hard not to given recent results.

It's inked. Let's roll.

This is how I feel. There’s almost zero chance he outperforms this contract but I’ll remain cautiously optimistic until further notice.

What would it take for you guys to call this deal a success after it’s all said and done?

I’m thinking 2 more great years from Jones with a couple years of decline and 1 more Super Bowl during his deal.

Bowser 03-10-2024 09:25 AM

Did not expect that kind of money to be thrown out. But, now that it's over, I'm glad he's here for the duration of his productive years of his pro life. That threepeat looks a little more attainable now.

Also, perhaps this gives the Chiefs a little pull with future free agents and draft picks that the team will take care of them if they come in and play lights out. Let's do this shit.

Sounds fair. Another 12-15+ sack season would be the frosting.

I'm looking forward to what FAU's year is going to look like. Jones and Karlaftis are known quantities that are going to draw the double teams giving the local kid his opportunities, especially early in the season.

I didn’t know Bills fans would happy about this deal. They just love pretending Mahomes can’t win even one without Jones or Kelce.
