That goal was only a matter of time. We've looked dangerous as hell this half.

SPATCH 05-26-2012 07:42 PM

These German-Americans are really starting to make an impact, btw.

SPATCH 05-26-2012 07:43 PM

SPATCH 05-26-2012 07:45 PM

I want one of these jerseys, too.

SPATCH 05-26-2012 07:48 PM

jones....lolololololol

SPATCH 05-26-2012 08:00 PM

Klinsi has really transformed this team in a fairly short amount of time.

Looking forward to the game against Brazil.. hope to see the same confident, attacking style.

Demonpenz 05-26-2012 08:04 PM

USA USA USA

|Zach| 05-26-2012 11:02 PM

good shit Nats!

Ultra Peanut 05-27-2012 05:20 AM

That ruled. Donovan, Baby Bradley, Jones, Torres, Johnson, Dolo, Boca... amazing performance.

Ultra Peanut 05-27-2012 08:21 AM

p.s. I MUST BREAK YOU

Spicy McHaggis 05-27-2012 08:26 AM

That was one of the best performances I've seen from the US in some time. The ball rarely stuck on someone's foot, it was just constantly shifted around. Against a team that plays like Scotland, doing that is vital to breaking them down. Baby Bradley has evolved a huge amount in the last 1.5 years as a player.

Simply put, the whole thing was pretty.

ArrowheadHawk 05-27-2012 02:58 PM

Good start.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 02:58 PM

Zusi has been looking like himself today. Maybe he's motivated after not making the cut for USMNT?

Reaper16 05-27-2012 03:00 PM

Oh, Kei. Balls don't belong in the sky. They aren't birds or airplanes.

Braincase 05-27-2012 03:12 PM

Bloody mess!

the Talking Can 05-27-2012 03:13 PM

damn that cut looked ugly

007 05-27-2012 03:15 PM

must have cut it on a brace back there.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 03:18 PM

Sporting Kansas City shooting the ball on goal = Kansas City Royals trying to bring a runner home from scoring position: Inexplicable failure out of excellent chances.

True but if they keep this up, they will get a score.

Mathematics says so. That's basically how SKC gutted out wins during their winning streak to start this season: scoring one or two goals out of a bazillion legit chances.

Kamara, Sapong, Bunburry, etc. are athletic as Hell, and they create so many chances that other players wouldn't be able to. So I'm not exactly complaining. They just can't finish those chances.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 03:27 PM

AHHHHH. Colin just got his chest on it. Damn.

the Talking Can 05-27-2012 03:31 PM

kamara!

2-0

relentless attack

Reaper16 05-27-2012 03:31 PM

THAT one was on target from Kamara. Goddamn, these guys are athletic as all getout.

ArrowheadHawk 05-27-2012 03:31 PM

GOAL!!!!!

007 05-27-2012 03:32 PM

that one looked so basic compared to all the misses that they worked their ass off for.

i don't get to see them play often, but it is kind of hilarious

it could be 4-0

I watch a lot of MLS, and SKC creates the most legit chances of any team this season. They get tons of shots off. They just rarely go on target, heh.

Still, SKC's relentlessness and athleticism (and size) on offense is why they are a legit threat to take home the cup.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 03:40 PM

I love watching this team when they are playing like themselves, when they are playing up to their potential. Even if this were a 0-0 tie at half I would be so proud to have this team in KC. They are dominating possession, they are physical without being dirty, they are actually creating chances in the run of play again (!), and Kamara in particular is pulling off plays that almost no one else in MLS can pull off.

007 05-27-2012 03:44 PM

I can tell this is not a sport I should watch on TV but rather in person. I find myself too easily distracted away from the game.

EDIT

Of course, it would help if I didn't have to watch on my computer.

Connect your computer to the television.

You gotta' learn how to watch the game away from the ball. I mean, I'm still learning that, but making myself aware of just how dynamic and fluid the game is makes it hold my complete attention.

Fairplay 05-27-2012 03:48 PM

Watching them run up and down the field makes me feel dog tired.

Those players have to be in excellent condition.

That wouldn't help me as my computer is my link to CP. I need a completely separate source for the game so I can have both up at the same time without having to sacrifice a bunch of screen space.

That is why I say I should see it in person. I can see the whole field then and not just what the camerman is looking at.

WoodDraw 05-27-2012 03:57 PM

Watching in person is a completely different experience than watching on tv. To appreciate the shape and tactics, you have to see games in person. Also, it's just more fun too.

Braincase 05-27-2012 03:58 PM

Sapong appears to be OK.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:02 PM

Zusi was close there. San Jose seems to have stopped worrying about containing Chance Meyers so much. That could prove interesting.

Braincase 05-27-2012 04:04 PM

20 stitches in the hand for Sinovic.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:19 PM

Look, I know that San Jose is missing their most potent offensive threats. It's showing in this game. But the Earthquakes weren't expected to look this poor on defense. SKC's size advantage is significant.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:21 PM

This is what San Jose does this season. They're good and they never ever ever give up.

007 05-27-2012 04:21 PM

Uh oh

ArrowheadHawk 05-27-2012 04:24 PM

Why did they stop attacking?

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:25 PM

If SKC gets back to pressuring the ball then they should win. They just can't give up another goal here and let San Jose get defensive.

I can't think of a single good reason. Well, San Jose has made a lot of offensive-minded substitutes. But SKC should still try to dictate the pace on their terms.

Playing not to lose.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:31 PM

Ballsy call by the ref there.

007 05-27-2012 04:33 PM

So you can just push a guy away from the ball like that?

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:33 PM

Vermes gets outcoached a lot, frankly. He's proven to be a wonderful technical director, but his in-game adjustments leave a lot to be desired sometimes. San Jose is in control of this game now.

Edit: KC's back to attacking now, I see. Keep it up, guys.

007 05-27-2012 04:34 PM

Damn! Great save there.

I'm biased, but I would have called it a foul. The defender pushed with his knee/upper leg into Zusi there. Light contact, but intentional.

Hell, it was clearly intentional.

SKC fans on Twitter are blowing up with rage over that call, heh.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:40 PM

Oh Christ. 5 minutes of extra time makes me nervous.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:42 PM

Collin is such an intuitive defender. God, I love that guy.

007 05-27-2012 04:42 PM

shit that was scary

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:42 PM

Hahah, Nielsen gets a yellow card for milking the clock.

ArrowheadHawk 05-27-2012 04:45 PM

Win

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:45 PM

Congrats, SKC. It took Vermes awhile to properly adjust to San Jose's offensive blitz tactics but the team eventually did a good job of bunkering down.

Feels real, real, real good to get 3 points. It's been a while.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:48 PM

That's the last regular season matchup between what may just be the two best teams in MLS this season. If they meet again this season it'd have to be in the MLS Cup final.

Reaper16 05-27-2012 04:58 PM

Hey UP, your goalie smacked a young Kansan ballboy. That's not very nice. :(

I thought I would give UP some pregame kicking around for the earthquakes

Ultra Peanut 05-28-2012 03:40 AM

Bleggggh. They've been playing like this for the past few weeks so I'm glad this was the only loss to come from it. Hopefully having Salinas and Bernardez (and Wondo and Lenhart) back after the break will help the team stop playing like garbage for the first sixty minutes of every match.

I think it was SKC's size advantage plus Hernandez playing like he played last year (like shit, is what I'm saying) in Bernardez' absence. He and Opara have both been such a huge step down from Bernardez and I can't wait for him to get back so the back line can be awesome again (Morrow, Beitashour, and 'Miro are just the best, though).

Stephenson felt a lot like 2011 Khari, too, misplaying shittons of passes he's been connecting on so far this year. And Brad Ring was ineffectual as a d-mid and stalled out possessions when the ball was at his feet, so I hope Yallop's able to trade him for a jar of peanut butter once the starters get back.

I normally hate the "You Suck Asshole" chant, but I have to admit that in Busch's case the "asshole" part is completely accurate.

He's also an awesome keeper, soooooooooooo I don't actually care

If American soccer had promotion and relegation, then Orlando City SC would be playing in MLS right now. They were solid.

There was talk on Twitter from SKC fans about how Vermes should put in a discovery claim on Chin.

Demonpenz 05-29-2012 10:10 PM

Man he was creative as hell, but I guess Ryan Johnson was as well. Yes Orlando was big and their goalie was lazy as hell.
