And HOLY SHIT, 15-0? At home? WTF :shake: Glad I missed this one. |

I dont blame them for trying to save Greene. We all see the raw talent. We can all read the fantastic stats in AAA. But, for whatever reason, and it has to be mental, its just not clicking and its hurting the ball club. Maybe the clubhouse and majo players/leaders like him and pushing to keep giving him a chance. It's way past time to just cut him. |
Greene traded to Houston! Not sure who they traded him for.
Edit: For a player to be named later. |

Tyler Green just didn't get it. He was quoted as saying about the booing, "Then don't come to the game. Just cheer for your team. That's all I can say about that." Cardinal fans aren't booing you because you suck. If you play hard they will cheer you to no end. Its no like Rex Hudler put up great numbers here. If you aren't living up to your potential or playing hard, you will be booed. If you are booed by Cardinal fans, you deserve it. Its not like Philly where they regularly booed Mike Schmidt.

Please tell me they won't call up Kosma over Jackson.

Was nice to bounce back with a win today. Team could have quit after last night, glad to see they didn't.

That damn choker Holliday at it again.................
Seriously though they guy is having a hell of a season and Stl needs that if they are going to have a chance to snag a WC spot. |

Siegrist had a nice start last night in Springfield (5 inning no hitter). A 6'4 lefty that can hit the mid 90's with his fastball should get him a longer look as a prospect. I had read earlier that Dennis Martinez (now coaching at Palm Beach) was really high on him, but all I had read on him earlier was he was a mid to high 80's guy with decent stuff coming out of college.

He's got the talent. We just need to see it consistently. |

Well, I believe we are tied for the WC lead right now. Need to keep playing well.
I think we can run down the Reds. |
Mr. Clutch at the plate here.

Well, we might get beat because Motte gave up back to back homers on his third best pitch.

Derrick Goold @dgoold
That was the #Cardinals 20th one-run (loss) of the season. They are 12-20 in one-run games |
Getting intresting Cards up 2 against pirates w/ bases loaded no outs.
|
Well yeah for the good guys, but way to close for comfort again.

Mutt nearly blew another yesterday. Close shave.

We as fans should give it up to Mo, what do you think Molina would get on the FA market now? It would have cost us more now. Props are due. We arn't the Royals but we still don't have tons of money to over pay for contracts. |
Don't look now but we are tied for the Wild Card lead, 13 games over .500 and 6 games back from the Reds.
|
Need to continue this series and sweep the Reds.

Some ugly managing last night but they bounced back nicely today.

Quote:
Last year at this point we were 10 games out. We had to have the Braves also collapse. Not neccessary true this year. We are only 6 games out and the last 3 games of the year are home against the Reds. That is a huge difference. |

But he has since proven himself to be a consistent ball player. You can count on at least .300/25/100 out of him every year. |

Jesus ****ing Christ. They get up by 2.5 in the wildcard and then get blown out 3 consecutive games.

Beltran's really hurting us.
He's flat out giving away 75% of the ABs he takes. Weak swings, shit contact, soft grounders to 2b on the first pitch (if he's lucky enough to make contact). With a whopping 8 walks since the All-Star break, he's clearly taken that HR derby nomination to heart. He's just a wild hacker and needs to be dropped in the order until he wakes the !@#$ up. This offense can't carry a black hole in the middle right now. |

The other guys will come around; slumps happen. Beltran, OTOH, is not in a slump. He's changed his approach and has turned into a dogshit player on account of it. That or he's more hurt than he's letting on. In either event, I wouldn't expect him to come out of it. |
They're effectively playing their way out of the post season.
|
As of right now they are still in the playoffs.

If we get past the first round, we would have waino for two games again. |
I found out that the whole state of Iowa is in the blackout area for the Cardinals, Brewers, Twins and Royals so whenever one of those teams plays on Wednesday on ESPN, the game is blacked out.
|
Furcal apparently out for the rest of the year. Needs elbow surgery. :banghead:
Wife just heard this while watching the Braves/Phillies game. No link. Blow me. |

I know historically that teams just dont repeat as World Champs but damn, this is ugly right now. |

Club put him on DL and recalled Pete Kozma from Triple-A. |

My other teams skip the championship part and go right to the shitting. :spock: |
Add another shutout to the party - 10-0 loss. That's one whole run scored in the past four games. :shake:
|
This team is too streaky. They don't build on success, they bury it. If what everyone is saying about Beltran is true, he should be meeting with McGwire.

It would be huge to whip up on Strasberg today and build on yesterdays win to gain some momentum back.

Looks like Lynn is completely ****ed since the AS break. Hopefully its more of a worn down from starting thing and not something that carries into next season. For those able to watch the game has his velocity dropped from earlier in the season?

Any one get to see Miller pitch today?
Seems to have went well. |

Beltran needs to be batting 8th. He is useless right now. I would rather have Joe Kelly batting in a clutch situation.
|
Quote:
Putting him 8th only moves the black hole down in the order and creates a situation where the pitcher is leading off more. Matt Carpenter is a far better hitter than Beltran is right now and isn't much worse as an OFer. Beltran's crap - absolute, unadulterated, unfiltered crap. He's worthless in every way, shape and form. He can't run, he can't hit and he won't take a goddamn walk. And of course Matheny's answer to this problem was to move him up in the order. Get him off the !@#$ing field. We don't have time to hope he just comes out of an 8 week long funk at this point. |
