Sounds like the Saudis are considering increasing their output to cover the loss of Libya's production.

Libya has socalled "sweet" crude which is not found in relatively plentiful quantities in SA, which has heavier "sour" crude which requires different refinery technology.
Sorry but it's just not that simple - can't just turn up a spigot one place to
replaced the outflow lost from a spigot in another place.

Thats probably the point when most people start cutting back on driving yes. $3.80 to $4 is when people do a lifestyle change....sell the gas guzzler, walk more, ride a bike, kill yourself..

LMAO

That's true, but let's not pretend that if the Saudis were to increase production, it would not have an influence on global pricing. It would. Refineries would be found to refine the heavier Saudi crude.

The only thing that truck was missing, was a couple of magnets for the doors!

Being from Montana I would have guessed what was missing for YOU from that truck was a bigger body and at least a 3/4 ton 4X4 frame?

Chiefs magnets are a given. :)

Like I said it's not that simple because there's such a dearth of refineries in
Europe that can process sour or high sulfur crude as compared to the US.
In the US Valero (NYSE symbol "VLO"), is the big Kahuna for handlng sour crude, but that doesn't help England, Franch, Germany, etc too much does it ?

I don't really care about Europe.

I'll be doing that soon.

I've got 2 motorcycles. 1 I ride and 1 I'm building. If gas keeps rising I'll sell the one I ride and pick up a Honda Ruckus for like 1k and then use the rest of the cash on the build.

You should - the Veleros of the US might start exporting gasoline & diesel to Europe if they have shortages which will obviously create upward pressure on US petro prices. In case you didn't get the memo, we all live in a global
economy these days.
