Managing an MLB club is far more about common sense than genius. Joe Torre won multiple WS and he's a dumb sonofabitch who can't manage a bullpen to save his life. LaRussa's grating style causes his teams to almost always underperform in the playoffs.

He holds grudges, and his illogical approach to the game causes him to sit talented players in place of never-will-be's. He micromanages his bullpen, and yet at the most inopportune time, when leave a left with horrible reverse platoon splits in against an all-righty lineup.

When should Colby Rasmus, when healthy, ever, EVER sit for Randy Winn?

Why is Skip Schumaker still starting at 2nd over Tyler Greene in Memphis when he's inferior both offensively, defensively, and on the basepaths?

Why does he continue to run Motte out there on B2B days when it's clear to anyone that he's horrible when not fully rested.

Tony LaRussa is a guy with an 85 IQ who thinks he has a 185 IQ. Combine that with the fact that he's a complete asshole who habitually ruins the confidence of his young players, and you have someone who has worn out his welcome.

They were talking on MLB Network last night about how it has to be sickening to people in St. Louis that they are 6 games behind the Reds and how pathetic this offense had been. They made a point to call out Brendan Ryan on that boneheaded play where he looked to 3rd that allowed the runner to be safe at first. "You can't allow that to happen, especially when you can't score any runs." This is embarrasing folks.

This happens when you overpay a 30/100 guy, you end up with other gaping holes through the lineup unless you have the Yankees salary structure. Not saying Holliday is bad, but not worth what he is getting on this club.

It's almost funny (in a nonfunny way) watching TLR basically throw shit at a wall and see what sticks at this point, especially with the leadoff position. Wouldn't surprise me if he batted the pitcher leadoff at some point before the season ends. Stupid and arrogant is not a good combination.

For the first time I might agree with you that its time for Tony to move on. I've always worried about getting someone worse.

His teams have always performed well. He usually got a team to over perform. They at least played hard and fundamentally sound. But this mess has to be on Tony.

A legitamate triple crown candidate and the best player in baseball, maybe the best top 3 pitchers in baseball, best defensive catcher in baseball.....they should be better than this.

Another pathetic offensive performance. We are well on our way to losing 8 games in the standings in a 2.5 weeks. That's amazingly inept.

Getting shutout again. What a joke.

Tony has gotten marginal MLers to over perform because he gives them opportunities. He generally gets good players to underperform because he ****s with their PT so much.

Dave Duncan is to Tony LaRussa as Bill Belichick is to Bill Parcells.

That one is gonna leave a mark if he goes and I see no way he stays if Tony leaves. He defintely is one of the major reasons for our success since Tony took over. How many castoffs, picked out of the trash pitchers has he got some juice out of? We will miss that.:(

In front of another sparse apathetic home crowd of teams going no where. :shake:

Its almost gotten to the point of comical. It's completely unbelievable for a team to underachieve to this level.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-31-2010 08:13 PM

We aren't really underachieving given the players we are running out there.

We have 5 automatic outs in the lineup: Feliz, Schumaker, Ryan, Molina, and the Pitcher's spot.

We have the worst SP in baseball going out for us every five days, and our bullpen is mediocre.

Trading Ludwick ****ing murdered this team. We needed power more than anything else and we gave away our third best hitter.

We should have traded Jay, Craig, or Daryl Jones for Kelly Johnson and just ate Westbrook's salary. Of course, putting Tyler Greene at SS would help too.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-31-2010 08:17 PM

Molina is hitting fifth. Fifth

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-31-2010 08:29 PM

Randy Winn just struck out to end the game on a fastball that was over his ****ing head.

5 hits in 18 innings after a Pujols called players only meeting. :doh!:
