And Staley is most definitely going to have to be fired.

No, it doesn't. But fyi, at least two of those INTs were just ridiculous. The first one was lucky as hell, and there was another one that was a really good ball, but the DB made a circus catch on it.

But just the fact that he could come back from as horrific a start as that means that it's possible for him to shrug that off and go out and have a huge day. Says something about his character. So does the fact that his team didn't quit even after that spectacularly bad beginning.

The other part that helped was that Staley, the metrics guru, decided that he should play Mike Williams in a meaningless game last week and got him injured, as well as Bosa. And then in this game, he decides, after gaining a 27-0 lead, he should only run the ball 8 times.

They scored a total of 3 points in the 2nd half.

Metrics is awesome stuff. Just not the complete answer.

Oh, wait. Were talking about the pie?

Hell no. Ravens are a much better team than JAX, and somehow beating Cincy without Lamar would obviously reflect that.

JAX is a gift for us. I expect a similar repeat of our game with them not long ago, but more convincing.

If Herbert and Chargers offense didn't completely collapse in the 2nd half against a defense that has been poor all season, Lawrence's game is seen in a far, far different light.

I will say that he looked completely shell shocked and on the verge of mentally giving up in the first half (nobody has ever seen anything as bad as 4 picks and 3 three-and-outs to start a game before) and somehow got out of that rut in time to still make a difference in the game. That's something. Overall, though, he still sucked yesterday.

He seemed to let the momentum overwhelm him. I think young players think that everything needs to go perfect to win the games and when they go down one or two scores they think they need to play desperate.

I can actually forgive the first two interceptions. The first one was a double deflection and the second one was a fourth down throw and I think QB's naturally take chances in those spots. The rest was horrific. The three announce were actually harder to look at than some of the picks.

Seems like the Chargers made a mistake kicking that field goal towards the end.

They were up 10 at the Jacksonville 22. It was 4th and 3.

Even if you make the field goal, the lead is only 13. That’s still a 2 possession game.

The Chargers had been moving the ball pretty well that drive, so I think they should’ve gone for the kill. That game is over if the Chargers score a TD.

Kinda like when a team scores a TD to go up 7 late. It’s better to go for 2, so you can lead by 9 than kick the extra point to lead by 8.

100%. I said that to the group I was with watching the game. A lot of these "I'm crazy and go for it all the time" coaches actually tend to puss when they need to go for it the most. Staley was a perfect example there. When you have a chance for a kill shot, you take it.

I always think of these things in terms of what would I want teams to do against the Chiefs.

I would have been very relieved to see the kicker run on the field if I was a Jags fan. That alone tells me the Chargers made the wrong decision.

Yeah 3’s aren’t going to win very many games.

I’m probably alone in this thinking but I’m rooting for the Bills and Bengals today.

I want to see the game I was wanting to see a couple of weeks ago.

Well, good news for you then. The chances of that game not happening are very, very slim.

Staley has definitely toned down the aggression this season. I think he let all of the bullying from his failed 4th down attempts last season go to his head.

I’m not an old school purist or anything but there are certainly times when I’m like “**** going for it, I’d rather take the 3 points”. You’ll win some and lose some on those choices, but you’ve got to stand on the decisions you do make.
