Suddenly liking something does not make you a bandwagon fan. Suddenly disliking it because its not as good anymore makes you a bandwagon fan. And with the response casual soccer fan get from “die-hard” soccer fan, its no wonder no one latches onto the sport. |

I know that this is a repost, but it is so awesome that needs to be posted again. http://www.vuvuzela-time.co.uk/www.chiefsplanet.com |

BTW I'm not defending the bandwagoners...I'm just letting you know that some people really are excited about this. |
The soccer snobbery in this thread is getting a little stifling. How in the **** did Italy lose? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
|
yeah, that's one reason I'm not a huge soccer fan outside of the world cup: a LOT of soccer snobs out there.

I don't think there is a lot of soccer snobbery. I think for some reason sofa king always wants to pose questions to make people defend soccer for some reason...after a while it gets old. It is like...hey...like it or dont like it that is fine.
"Where the hell are all these soccer fans the rest of the year?" "I hate it when they flop...that is why I don't watch." http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=1458 Blah blah blah, I mean...what do you want us to do? You like it or or don't. |

I know what it's like. You "discover" a band that few other people know about. You buy all their stuff, talk them up to friends and devour every piece of info you can on them. You feel like part of an exclusive club, an insider, one who has unique insight into something special and rewarding.
Then they suddenly break out big and EVERYONE knows about them and acts like they're the band's biggest fan. And you're left sitting there in a crowd, thinking, "But I followed these guys YEARS ago ..." "One day Tito Puente's gonna be dead, and you're gonna say, 'Oh, I've been listening to him for years, and I think he's fabulous.' " |
no one cares if you don't like/get/understand/love soccer....
shove your ego up your ass...root for the team, enjoy the games, and quit ruining this thread with your boring and cliched opinions... |
I'm not a fan of the game, but it's a national pride thing to me, so I'll watch and root for the Red, White and Blue - just like the olympics.
I'm confused as to why people have a problem with that. |

that, and for me, it just doesn't break the pantheon of the sports I divert most of my time to. the world cup comes in a perfect time for sports every four years--the doldrums of summer for baseball, football is in mini-camp mode, tennis is boring by and large, basketball sucks (nba, that is: I'm a bulls fan), etc. |
There are people on this board that like soccer year around but they constantly get berated for it. There is a really active FIFA thread and every now and then Wizards threads pop up. Hell, I understand why some don't get into them but I have a blast with friends at Wizards games. I have been to every home game this year.
