Understandable, but when 10/30 comes, they’d better give that 1st up.
Let’s just lay it out there in simple terms:
Player A: 2019 first round draft choice, let’s say he’s pick 28 after the Chiefs have lost a playoff game (just a random guess).
Player B: Earl Thomas with a 4-year contract extension
Which guy is going to give you the best chance to win the championship with a roster that’s locked and loaded right now? It’s not even a debate.
If that pick even turns out to be a good player, he still likely won’t give you Earl’s production for the next several years.
Spent the last year and a half talking about how we needed to take advantage of Mahomes’ rookie deal. This move is a prime example of that.
