There seems to be rumour floating that Notre Dame has renewed its contract with NBC for 25 millions. If true than that's nixed the idea of Notre Dame joining any conferences.

There is almost zero chance this is true. At a minimum, ND would wait until the end of June to see if they are being given any viable path to the playoffs or a top bowl.
