If anything I'm continuing to work my arms and back just like I'm doing with the lat pull down. Doing a pull up is not a short term goal, but that doesn't mean I can't make up short term goals that will help me to eventually do something like that. And, in the process I'm doing those things that will also help me lose weight and build muscle.

It's just very unrealistic for most women to be able to do an actual chin-up without assistance. I meant nothing other than that.

Doesn't mean I can't try. Who knows, maybe I'll be the first woman to ever do a pull up! :p

He isn't telling he she will never be able to. Just that it should not be the goal.

he is referring to real chins/pull ups, not that kipping crap. I would still take a band assissted chin over a pulldown any day.

I wouldn't go that far. I can see his point. I just don't see anything wrong with making it a long term goal whenever there are things I can do to work towards that goal that I can also benefit from in my current long and short term goals. I'm not doing the bands every week. Just occasionally to check progress.

I had to look up what a band assisted pullup was. That's far better than the chair thing I suggested earlier. Good work.

I'd agree with Aspen, if pull upsnare your goal, assisted ones will get you there faster than pulldowns.

The "squeeze" at the end to get above the bar is similar to that ofwhen I'm finishing a difficult pulldown.

That only thing about you that makes me uncomfortable is your love of gigantic asses.

ThaVirus 05-17-2014 03:48 PM

That actually makes you gay.

if overall back development & strength is her goal, pull ups/chins > pulldowns
