I think you’re right, but I also think that we still win that game without Kelce if Jones suits up.

So if he signs and our playoff seeding is impacted by 1 loss, I will be upset.

Guys....the end game is they wanna win.

The defense plays like it did last week, with Jones and Omenihu in it, that's a top 5 defense. Like a legitimate ass kicker.

That's what they want. All bad stuff goes away.

Right...but can Chris Jones catch a pass that is thrown directly into his hands?

If Burrow and Toney are any indication, expect him to report in the opposite of game ready shape.

That said, after watching last week's performance by our defense against one of the league's better offensive units, this team has much bigger problems than Jones. Namely guys who can get open at WR. Some of this is scheme and guys not having much time on the field together to develop proper spacing, etc. Some of it is just derived from the fact that Veach and co. seem to be okay with a bargain bin WR corps and they're limited by their talent.

I would love to see CJ shipped for a player + picks package that would send a quality WR back to KC.

I’m trying really hard to like Chris Jones right now. It would be a lot easier if he he would get back to work. The Chiefs offensive playbook is notoriously difficult. Makes you wonder how long it would take for a new receiver to get acclimated and become a full part of the playbook.

Were those 2 goober agents his agents during the last contract talks?

O.city 09-11-2023 01:13 PM

The "bargain bin" WR"s are 2 2nds and a 3rd. It ain't like it's UDFA WR's running around out there.

I'd rather have paid Tyreek Hill. A huge reason we traded Hill was because we wanted to afford Jones. If we ain't gonna pay Jones, then losing Hill ****ing sucks even more.

Also Hill took a funny money contract. He's at $30 mil/yr, but he only cost $6.5 mil last year, $12.8 mil this year, and $31 mil next year. The year after that his cap hit is $34.2 mil, but they can cut him and have $11.6 mil in cap savings. His final year his cap hit is $56.3 mil, but if they cut him they get $45 mil in cap savings.

That's not gonna happen with Jones. If he signs he's getting basically all that money. These recent defensive contracts haven't been funny money at all.

I'm pretty sure "Goombah" is what you meant. These two look like reject "extras" from either Goodfellas or The Sopranos

scho63 09-11-2023 01:18 PM

If this goes much further, I think he gets traded.

wachashi 09-11-2023 01:18 PM

I don't see any scenario where the Chiefs increase whatever their offer was before the Lions game.

It's either Chris and his agents coming down to where the Chiefs are, or he's played his last snap as a Chief.

Yeah. If they knew Jones would be a stick in the mud, they would have traded him and found a way (funny money like you said) to keep Tyreek. The Chiefs face a pretty huge question mark when both Kelce & Reid eventually retire, which is not that far into the future.

The Bengals are paying Burrow 22% more than Mahomes and they will find a way to keep Chase, and probably still have a solid defense because their DC seems to be a miracle worker on that side of the ball.

If Veach knew that Jones was going to pull this shit, he would have signed and paid Hill and traded Jones. Hindsight is 20/20. I hear ya though, and once Jones is gone, I wont give 2 shits, but it will make losing Hill suck more.

It was always going to be a couple million more for KC and Tyreek than what Miami paid. Tax savings from Florida. Then the family, homes, childhood team, etc.. KC was at a disadvantage from a financial negotiating standpoint with Tyreek from the the prior moves he had made.

He was moving out of KC, not into it. So the organization had to do what it had to do. Either trade and get some compensation. Or really overpay for someone who was trying to turn the screws into you. Don't forget he even tweeted prior to the season ending, that you may not like it, but your time with me is near the end. He was leaving KC whether you hate it now, or liked it then.
